No one stuck a gun in your face. Freedom derives from the market, and if you're protected from your own decisions and consequences as a market actor, you have no freedom.

If you don't like it, then America is not the place for you my boy. Go move to the human zoo we call Europe. You know, the bubblewrap kingdom.
"16 year olds who have been propagandized for a decade by every single authority figure in their lives into believing a college degree is what sits between them and utter destitution are able to make sound decisions involving six figure sums of money.

Oh also it's 2003 so the fallout of NAFTA is fully visible making any sort of manual labor job look completely unstable and the great recession hasn't hit yet. It's your fault, got mine, fuck you."

Enjoy your Bolsheviks.

As a former college boy who paid off his loans like a good little drone, if student loans get forgiven I demand recompense. And not just equal to what the retards who thought loans were free money got, they're retarded and are getting a safety net. I want something that says "Yo, this guy did it right."
This is why I will be forever opposed to student loan debt forgiveness. If I had to pay, so do those fucking Millenials and Zoomers.

Or give me my money back.

Do you have any idea how stupid you look when someone informs you of the reality of Net Present Value calculations in finance, and you come back with some consumer information site from a lender? :story:

We need to stop dominating the thread, come shit up my profile if you want idc
NPV is literally just one generic model, you really aren't sounding like the wolf of wall street by bringing it up and acting like that's all there is to risk assessment.

A compromise, loan forgiveness for any degree that's not a humanity. Cause at least they went into something that would benefit the country instead of nigger history 102.

Oh, it has a two week old join date and already has a fag dorito. No wonder it's oblivious to reality.
i could swear i've seen him reply normally in this thread, that's why i tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. but seeing him shit it up on west coast time when most of the threads asleep just makes me think he's genuinely retarded

The issue really is that these kids shouldn't be wasting their time with AP and honors classes that just function as GPA boosters; they should be taking dual enrollment classes with their community college to knock off whatever classes they can before actually going to college (typically their English and Math credits). These poor kids work their asses off in AP classes and have to take bullshit exams just for most of them to not get any college credits unless they took like one of the 3 classes that actually do which are unnecessarily difficult.

I know I'm asking to be spoonfed here but what's even going on anymore? I stopped paying attention to all the political shit after the war with Iran kicked off. Do you guys think things will work out or did we fuck ourselves? All I know is that gas prices suck right now. Keeping up with all this shit in between working almost 50 hours a week has been exhausting so I opted out.

Honestly the Iran war thread is probably the most comprehensive and informative place to read about Iran online.

There's all kinds of shit like this that when you're young, they make you think it's worth something and then when you get out in the real world you find out the effort is worth shit.

I went to a super hard and kind of prestegious high school. They really pushed the whole Regents thing. The school was a Regents school. You had to pass the Regents at the end of the year, which is a harder version of what normal schools would call finals. With crazier repercussions - if you failed a Regents test, you fail your entire class for the year so if you were maintaining a 95 in class all year and crash and burn on the Regents test at the end of the year, well, fuck you, you fail.

And my school was so strict that two CUMULATIVE failures over the whole 4 years meant you got tossed out of the school so you really didn't want to fail a class because you only get one more chance over the next few years to not get tossed out. And trust me, throw out they did. My last name is near the middle of the alphabet, by the time I graduated, almost 80 kids had been tossed out over 4 years, and that's just between A and the middle of the alphabet. I have no idea how many were tossed out from me to the end of the alphabet. I just know that between starting at high school and graduating, I got moved back three homerooms.

So there's teenage me, stressed, suffering, studying, panicking, etc. I pass all the regents over all 4 years. I graduated and I got my coveted "Regents Diploma" which has a nice, shiny gold shield on it to let everyone know my diploma is worth more because it's a Regents diploma and I passed all my Regents tests versus peons who just went to normal high schools and passed normal finals.

And it's meant jack shit.

I have no idea what the whole point of it was. No one has ever asked to ever look at my high school diploma, much less offered me a job or congratulated me for having the shiny gold shield on it.

Fucking bullshit, all of it.

A multitude of things are in flux right now. We're waiting for the Iran conflict to be resolved in some good way, the SAVE America Act is currently not going anywhere since Congress is on its two week spring break recess and the Supreme Court is set to decide the fate of birthright citizenship in June of this year. Besides that, job numbers are up, Pam Bondi is no longer Attorney General, Kristi Noem isn't in charge of the DHS anymore and Trump is using a loophole to pay the TSA during a partial government shutdown.

Usually high end schools like that are more about the connections you make rather than the quality of the education and significance of the degree.

one big issue with dual enrollment classes is that in a good number of cases the credits dont transfer. The reason why is that in many cases the dual enrollment classes are sponsored by one of the local community colleges which are usually not recognized by the bigger colleges as a "legitimate" college. This isnt even limited to stuff like Harvard it can apply to colleges within your own state.

idk why you're acting like a nigger retard to me when i'm trying to have an actual conversation with you, unless you aren't acting
He's suckign the dick of usrury and trying to pass it off as something else. He's missing the point on purpose, or he's fucking dumber than dogshit.

He'd have a point if student loans weren't backed by the government, they have almost no risk in giving a loan that, unlike every other fucking loan in existence, cannot be discharged by bankruptcy. I don't know the nuts and bolts of it, but if the bank cannot collect the us taxpayer is on the hook. You can thank Biden (and obama) for this, they federalized student loans. THis was a big wet sloppy blowjob to the banks, who was refusing to loan money to kids fresh out of high school because they almost never got paid back. Back in the early 00s college classes were so much cheaper, i got my associates degree from community college basically for free, and it was covered with pell grants and some other grant I can't remember the name of. Books and all were less than a grand a semester (it's been 25+ years, I can't remember exactly) After biden (and obama) decided to federalize it, and give the banks the wet sloppy blow job of "not dischargeable by bankruptcy" they started giving thousands of dollars of loans. What happened is exactly what you think would happen, colleges starting jackign up prices hundreds of percent, and the loans got jacked up too. Now you have what we have now, if you want a bach degree you will be at least 40 grand in debt, heaven help if you want a masters or beyond, you'll be looking at a 100 grand plus.

But yeah, kids are on the hook, and they did take out the loans, but they aren't entirely blameless. They were sold a line of bullshit about college and how useful the degrees were. everyone around them pushed them into it, and they deserve some of the blame too. The thing that pisses me off about the idea of student loan forgiveness, the banks are going to be getting a huge fucking payday when/if that happens.

Because the system was hardly known about until the past like I wanna say 10 or so years meaning that nothing is streamlined yet. Iirc Florida and a few other states are working on their own bills to make it state-wide and shit. A lot of the issues also have to do with different course names, standards, and things of that nature once you go out of state. I'm not entirely sure on what issues could arise from a lack of credit transfers in state though, I haven't dealt with that college shit in forever and it's probably different now 😵‍💫

We don't live in the 13th century, the King of France killed the Templars in favor of Cahorsins, Jews and Lombards like 700 fucking years ago. Grow up and stop living in a fantasy world. Capitalism and lending are not going anywhere unless the global economy collapses.

Judging by the reactions I've seen off site, they don't think they've done anything to deserve it. Usually the response goes one of three ways:

1) using Israel as a thought-terminating cliche. Trump worships Jews therefore anyone who supports him worships Jews. Any argument, no matter how logical, will be shrugged off with "good goyim". Common on the right.

2) "America are dumb evil imperialist hillbillies!" Basically rehashing every tired missapplied neocon stereotype. America's always been evil deluding itself into being good, why should this be any different?

3) the "you need us!" delusion. Europe has apparently always been a good ally, we've always been a bad one, and Europe had never ever needed us. This will be followed up by hilarious BRICS propaganda about how America's lost eleventy billion dollars and six gorrilion soldiers since the Iran war started.

Sadly, rabidly anti-American elements abroad are too far gone to ever regret their decision. If we're kind and diplomatic to them they take it for weakness, and if we're firm with them they take it as aggression. And the most dangerous element is their delusion that they can beat us without any trouble. I really do fear the only way to cool off international relations at this point is buckbreaking.
This whole thing has been leading up to war with China, and even during the Biden years with the establishment neoliberals trying to play nice with Our Greatest Allies (European edition) the Euros already indicated they would try and weasel out of supporting the US and Taiwan. This just confirms it and we shouldn't be blindsided when it does happen and the Europeans use the Iran war as an excuse to (not) do something they were always going to anyway.

Are you really acting like usury is an out of date term when it's still on the books in many states. Holy shit you nigger tier retard.
