because a lot of them (NOT ALL) are just drug addicts and they act like weed is this magical no addiction drug even though they have to do it multiple times a day every day. i saw someone refer to it as "goynip" once and it's a pretty good term for it imo. there is credence to the better than alcohol argument but there are different types of THC delivery that sort of tarnish that whole point, namely those zoomer cart pens that niggers hit every 15 minutes so they're high constantly.
Yeah, I think culture is overdue for a re-examination of how weed actually affects people.
It’s pretty much the bottom of the low end for potential harm on a per-dose basis, but like you said, many people who regularly smoke have
zero concept of moderation and act like it’s totally acceptable to be stoned from the moment you get up in the morning, being high at work, etc.
The big thing is the impact on people’s mental health, and part of the problem is it can take years for serious issues to become apparent. In my experience, people can be lazy when they’re actively stoned as shit, but generally speaking it makes people paranoid and anxious. I used to smoke, but quit because it felt like it was making it way more difficult to manage my emotions and cope with real-life problems; (and I want to be very specific here)
even when sober.
I’ve always found it ludicrous when people say that THC helps them with any kind of mental-emotional issue. Saying that “Smoking Marijuana helps with my anxiety and depression” is as retarded as saying “Drinking Beer helps with my weight loss”. Unfortunately, much of the issue is just a product of general cultural and political polarization. With weed specifically, from years of anti-drug sensationalism where smoking a joint was either portrayed like a taking a heroic dose of acid, or a moderate dose of opiates.
On a more strictly political side-note, as much as I generally don’t care if drugs are decriminalized/legalized, I guarantee a huge chunk of liberal hysteria is a product of people not being able to handle how psychedelics impact their sense of empathy. Specifically when it comes to immigration/open borders type bullshit (and on a smaller scale, dumb things like performative vegetarianism/veganism). It
would be fucked to be stuck in some third-world hellhole, just as the concept of an industrial scale slaughterhouse
is pretty fucking grim no matter which way you slice it.
But, people have to be vetted and integrated for a society to function, and humans eat meat and there’s hundreds of millions of us per country.
There is such a thing as having too much empathy; just because someone once fed and befriended a wolf thousands of years ago, does not mean we can invite every animal in the jungle to come live with us.
