I feel like I can be a conservative leaning independent and still not like MAGA. It's a fucking cult mentality and when Trump leaves in 2028 there's not going to be any successor, he's going to leave everything in ruins because he's the typical boomer with the attitude of "I got mine, so fuck you" and I can't believe people are too stupid to see the grift.
If I were you I would give up on Vance too. Even if he tries his best to save face politically (which he is very obviously trying to do right now especially), he is going down with this ship. Right now with how things are going I wouldn't be surprised if whoever runs for President as a dem takes it in the next election.
But from my point of view with how things are going right now, that seems like the least of our concerns. This Iran thing is an obvious disaster, with our actions as a country we are fucking ourselves over going into the future.
We've shown no one can trust us when we say we want to negotiate, because every time we say we want to negotiate, what we really do is posture for a surprise attack.
We've signalled that directly and openly killing political leaders is in play.
We've been throwing away relationships with allies that actually do matter (and we were even before the conflict started), but keeping the one ally that is more like a ball and chain that's going to drown us.
We are potentially destroying the petrodollar, and not on purpose (if it was a planned move from the petrodollar to something else it could maybe be ok).
We are destroying the illusion of power we had.
We are pulling forces away from asian, to put into this retarded conflict.
I could go on, the point is Trump is fucking America over in a way that I never would have dreamt of in my worst nightmares.
And meanwhile, if you look at whats going on in the markets there is some very obvious inside trading going on (and from what I've heard this was happening even earlier in the term during the tarriffs). Going into his term I was optimistic that maybe he would do some of what he said. He showed some good will with the jan 6th pardons, and some other things.
But I was wrong.
I'm not someone that cares about the cult if personality around Trump. If tomorrow he somehow turned things around, and for the rest of his term put the amount of effort into saving the country as he's put into saving his buddies in the Epstein files. I would support him as much as any migger does. But he's fucking things up so seriously st this point I have a hard time believing it's not malicious.
Trump took a beautiful party that had been around since the civil war and perverted it into his own image.
Ok... Lmao. The GOP, a beautiful party?
I'm by no means a leftist, but bro the republican party was a joke way before Trump got to it, and it's been that way since neocons became a thing. Really if anything it seems like Trump is just the logical conclusion of the direction things started going back in the 80s or 90s.
That's not to say the democrat party is better in any sense. I genuinely hate both parties. The way I see it, the current state of things in America is the fault of both the republican and democrat parties equally. I could explain more on why I say that, but it really would really need a post of its own to cover it.
