Iran Crisis & the 2026 War between Iran and the United States, Gulf States, and Israel - Please focus on news and coverage, not argumentation.

Incorrect. Or well, the example you give is correct but you are missing out that the rotation part only came about as a valuing of pilot lives.

Japanese planes valued combat performance above all else. They were lightly armored but on paper had the best stats until the last phase of the war. US planes however were heavily armored and had self-sealing rubber lined fuel tanks.

Had the Japanese opted to sacrifice performance for armor*, the pilot drive to stay in the air would have mattered much less. Also their increasingly inexperienced pilot pool would have mattered less and (if given the time and space) been self-correcting as their green pilots would have been more likely to survive their encounters with American aircraft and thus would have lived long enough to learn from them.

*This was a choice driven a lot by bushido (if you are defeated you should just die) and Japanese performance autism, but also by reality. Japan didn't have a lot of metal or fuel, so anything to save weight had extreme preference.
It depends actually. Many IJAAS(Imperial Japanese Army Air Service) had armor plates self sealing tanks and armored glass (Ki-43, Ki61, Ki-44, Ki-84). Later IJN(Imperial Japanese Navy) aircraft like the J2M and N1K as well as the last Zeroes the A6M6 had armor, tanks and glass.
IJAAS pilots often willingly removed it for performance but so did Soviet pilots and nobody goes on about Bushido for them. The Zero tried to hit a very specific performance envelope and had to sacrifice everything for it. And in 1941 there was no better aircraft in the world, by 1942 the world had cought on.

The problems the Japanese had were that the Army and Navy hated each other. That Navy aircraft procurement lagged behind(The army adopted one new front line fighter each year. The navy pushed the compression on their zeroes and added a bit more ammo). And that they lacked high octane fuel. And also their pilot onboarding, training and such were shit.

Armin Papperger
Wow. I didn't know world renowned knower of all military capabilities, Armin Pappperger, chimed in. This really changes things. Will the Iran run out of munitions too or do you keep pressing the buy missles button in your Tropico game?

I actually found a picture of him ringing the official "No More Missiles" bell so I think you and him are on to something.

Edit: This nigga's Wikipedia is four lines long and mostly consists of a quick tidbit about how Russians tried to kill him but American and German intelligence foiled the plot. Must be a real big wheel in the world.

tl;dr: Iran knew this was coming and going off of Hezbollah put its entire governmental and military command into "cells" - nearly independent, isolated, and given general instructions to carry out in the absence of orders. You aren't completely off base with the Day of the Dead comparison but they had over a month, and realisitcally since june, to know this was coming so it'd be less of a cluster fuck than that.
And this is why they cant make a broad pivot in their strategy. They're wrangling horses and we're playing whackamole

The Cardboard Ayatollah might be dead according to @ThisIsGonnaBeGood or we could be bombing extra hard. I miss posting Pentagon Pizza Index screenshots, it reminds me of when this thread was comfy and only had a couple dozen posters at most.
Allegedly the replacement head of the Basij who got his new job yesterday is also ded today. One step closer to Staff Sergeant Salamimani being in charge

His sleeve catches on the slopped rear edge of the podium and then flops down. It happens several times in the full video, but not as obviously as in this particular case.
Combine that with the near potato quality and low frame rate and mundane things look like AI. If Bibi was dead Israel would leverage that to go all out on Iran, why would they hide it?
