It's amazing how similar these types are to each other. The smug arrogance of those who think their enemy will never, ever be allowed to react in any way to them.

Nietzsche (as overused as he is & my own objections to inherent aristocracy aside) did more or less hit the
nail on the head when it comes to how some of these people determine their morals, which also more or less explains their condescension, smug sense of superiority, and outright vitriol towards their enemies.
They essentially get so hateful it becomes caustic to their very being. Their smug sense of moral superiority also acts as a dopamine hit each time they share a platitude of act especially spiteful of their opponents. Granted, they're of the delusional belief that everybody who disagrees with them or sides with the enemy
literally wants to kill them, but their harshest response being, "you'll never get your video games back!" belies their sheer impotence. Of course, they're only a hop, skip, and jump away from wanting to kill their enemies but still.
Their use of the "
end of history" is also ironic considering it came from an Asian Neoconservative/Neoliberal who was pretty much doing a victory lap over the collapse of the Soviet Union and thought things would stay peak-90s forever. Look it up. Fukiyama's ideal state was the USA under Bush Sr, which is crazy to think about.
I don't think Hegel (
or Marx) were wrong in looking at human development in a linear sort of way, always progressing from one thing to the next based on some nebulous shared-desire for liberty, but the idea that the current stretch of what we call the status quo will remain in perpetuity is wishful thinking
at best. (
Granted in '92, many of our current restrictions on free speech and firearms access, especially in Europe, weren't in place so '92 might've been peak liberal democracy but it's all gone tits up in the past 30 years)
