There is no left vs right anymore,
The reason for this is because for decades Left Wing academics have been pushing the belief (false) that Nationalism is a Right Wing thing and Internationalism is Left Wing. This is not true and is in part motivated by Socialist Academics desperate denial that the Fascists were not Left Wing. But for other reasons also.
Given that most people get their understanding of politics from modern academia, this has very effectively derailed proper understanding of Right v. Left. I might go further and say that the forced bolting together of conservative social views with Right Wing economics and Progressive views with Big State economics, is almost calculated to keep people from coming together with a unified voice.
Anyway, I'm with Lowe on Britain should not be sticking its nose in Iran on behalf of Israel. And for those who think Iran is subverting Britain, they need to better understand the Sunni and Shia split and that most of the Islamic pressure in the UK is from Turkey and the Gulf states. It's a level of simplification that would put Russia and Ukraine on the same side because both are predominantly Christian nations or Russian speaking.
Moral arguments of "maybe bombing people who are not a threat to you" tend to fall on deaf ears for some, so I'll state it in terms of self-interest. Britain gains sweet FA by playing patsy for Israel. I don't even think the USA does, personally. But the concern here is Britain.
If it was invading Birmingham, maybe.
On the national level, if Restore have 20% of the vote, but most of that 20% is concentrated in a few constituencies, then they only get a few seats in Parliament.
Well explained. And I particularly like "Cupping Balham".
But I have to say that "splitting the vote" is less of a disincentive if the party you end up with by avoiding it is also not what you want. Or doesn't do what they promised.
The existence of Restore, and every person who joins it to swell their numbers, creates a pressure on other parties to move to Restore's position. Look at how Reform have suddenly started announcing policies, appointing shadow ministers, etc. once Restore hit the scene.
You can be damn certain that Reform will stop complaining about splitting the vote if and when Restore become the default party. Which, if nationalists want effective change, it will have to.
Right now, Nationalists are faced with the following choice:
1. Support something that has a high chance of getting them some of what they want but likely selling them out for the most part.
2. A more moderate chance of getting real, meaningful change.
The only certainty would be that option #1 cannot get them what they want.
In a very real sense, the biggest thing holding nationalists back from getting what they want, is the belief they can't have it. Farage is a charlatan and will turn Reform into a charlatan party. As evidence, I will hold up that since Restore appeared, the Establishment media has very suddenly started soft-backpeddling on the demonisation of Reform.
