1) It would cost too much to intervene. They have way, way more to lose by getting involved.
2) They are unable to reverse the situation. Russia is locked in Ukraine and China don't have any military projection.

I'm fairly sure not even China and Russia like having a country run by religious nutters as an ally. It was preferable from it being allied to the US, but probably not worth it to get involved in a war against america.

They wait and see whether Iran can weather the storm and remain functional or collapse under American bombs. Right now they are absolutely already helping with intel. Military supplies will probably come if the war drags on and it looks like America can be tied down in Iran for longer.

Russia is currently occupied with a 4 year “Three Day Special Military Operation,” and China doesn’t want to risk its trade with the US. China also prefers more subversive tactics like funding drug cartels (Sinaloa) that send drugs to the US and are a border security threat.
