So what's Trump's game plan? To inject Mamdani with Patriotism to cure the Muslim disease and hope that cure will spread to the rest of NYC?

I think Trump just likes the man and sees him as misguided at worst. People forget that Trump is fairly open to liberals, he invited both Gabbard and Kennedy to be part of his board, and was even kicking around progressive leader Sanders for a bit. If the Progressives can get off their TDS, Trump often seems willing to throw a bone towards them given their positions are somewhat aligned on many things. Trump isn't like the current Dem party, he seems like he wants to invest in young talent, even if it is across the aisle.

If he reels in Madami, it is a great look for him, showing he is willing to work with a Dem, a hardcore Dem even. It completely nukes the unreasonable dictator allegations the Dems throw. In addition, he can save his city New York through getting Madami to clean up his policy, which is a net-win for everyone.
