Pretty much. Someday all my Prot and Catholic brothers who are still fighting over Luther will actually read the 95 Theses, but today is not that day. Probably not tomorrow either. Outlook for the day after isn't good. The man was a Professor of Moral Theology at the University of Wittenberg, the 95 Theses are, in part, about the moral goodness of the Pope charging money for springing people out of Purgatory. The other is where, exactly, the Pope derives the authority to do such a thing, because it didn't seem to be in scripture.

The 95 Theses were 95 points for debate posted in 1517, before Luther's excommunication and while he was still a monk. They are the first time in his life that he openly questions papal teaching, and he still couches it in "If only comrade Stalin knew!" type discourse where he's sure the pope could not have possibly meant to authorize the sale of salvation. The definitive statement of his beliefs is the Smalcald Articles, his comprehensive, public statement of faith published in 1537.

First, purgatory. Here they carried their trade into purgatory by masses for souls, and vigils, and weekly, monthly, and yearly celebrations of obsequies, and finally by the Common Week and All Souls Day, by soul-baths so that the Mass is used almost alone for the dead, although Christ has instituted the Sacrament alone for the living. Therefore purgatory, and every solemnity, rite, and commerce connected with it, is to be regarded as nothing but a specter of the devil. For it conflicts with the chief article that only Christ, and not the works of men, are to help souls. Not to mention the fact that nothing has been commanded or enjoined upon us concerning the dead. Therefore all this may be safely omitted, even if it were no error and idolatry.

What have the actually done to warrant removal? Tulsi has been quiet for months and seems to be a war hawk. RFK Jr basically was forced to reverse every position he had.
