Capital! Here's a rough time breakdown I made for the marathon. It includes the games Phillip played along with breaks and the podcast/morning show.
For a gaming marathon there should be a more significant amount of... you know... actually playing games?
Still got way more than he deservesNot even 500 dollars for a marathon stream? Sad! Pathetic!
Disaster marathon!
For a football themed marathon a lot of not football related things happened. He didn't even run a gay simulation of the forthcoming final, or eat some stadium food, he ate some chink slop. Here's a rough time breakdown I made for the marathon. Optics are yesteryear, didn't you hear?I liked the part when he started begging for donations to drink again, when one of his big selling points was that he wouldn't do that anymore and could just drink whenever he wants on these marathons now.
There wasn't a whole lot of Valentine's themed games either. For a football themed marathon a lot of not football related things happened. He didn't even run a gay simulation of the forthcoming final, or eat some stadium food, he ate some chink slop.
I was just thinking this, too. He made spectacularly little effort to lean into, well... ANY of the potential relevant theming, whether it was Valentine's Day or the Super Bowl (and both were used as visuals in the stream preview thumbnail!)For a football themed marathon a lot of not football related things happened. From what I remembered, he did indeed not once change jerseys. The entire stream was predicated on the "support" he was to be given by his loyal fans.I was just thinking this, too. His previous Superbowl marathons were awful but at least he made some token effort to tie it all into the theme. This time, did he even highlight changing his jerseys? I didn't catch the whole thing, so maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like he just kind of silently changed jerseys between segments without even mentioning it.
Then I thought: well surely he has some surprise for the food today that'll tie into the theme, and that'll be gay, but at least it'll show some effort.
But... nope! Just a drunk, disheveled 44 year old man who looks 60, chomping loudly into the mic and gulping down overpriced Doordashed Chinese food.
The entire thing felt even more than usual like phoning it in. It's a testament to how braindead his dents are that they still coughed up 450 dollars for it.
Yeah pretty much once you factor in his higher on average cost of living and compared to any job with a half decent benefits package, no, Phil doesn't actually make that much bank. Even if he does, he has to literally beg 6 days a week. I would probably want to kill myself if I had to do that. This underperforming marathon led me to a realisation: I always had in my mind that Phil earns more than me, but is an idiot and wastes all his money and that's why he has a khando to show for and that's that (besides tech that depreciates with 1% per month according to accounting standards). But this year I calculated it again out of interest, and Phil earns now roughly the same amount as I do per year while being almost ten years older, "working" a day more per week and has to be a begging clown on the Internet for it. As far as I understand the American retirement system, Phil hasn't got anything more than social security (I guess nobody believes that he is able to save via 401k, he also never said that afaik). He has no benefits like being able to purchase the product / services of the company you work at cheaper, or discounts for partner companies or reimbursements for public transport, gyms, employee stocks etc. This guy is living on borrowed time, fully depending on dents and dentractors for the rest of his life. I am not American, but at this point, wouldn't it make more sense to reduce streaming hours and work a part time job and have at least some security/ benefits / career & retirement options? Dents might even increase the tips / h amount. As far as I get it right now, he earns above US average, but he's not strictly well-off unlike 5 years ago when only tips counted and the rest was bonus. Especially if we think about a bum with a college degree who should by now have made a career himself, became a specialist in his field or some sort of team leader. But I talk about Phil, I don't think he is able to find work or hold on to a job for more than a week. Of course, there is also fat Khat who might or might not work part-time.
I would like to read the thoughts of US citizens (not resiDents, ackackack) about this topic.
Your entire thesis (single paragraph) is predicated on Phil having a rational brain, which he does not. Therefore there is ultimately no purpose to your post other than it acting as a thought exercise. This underperforming marathon led me to a realisation: I always had in my mind that Phil earns more than me, but is an idiot and wastes all his money and that's why he has a khando to show for and that's that (besides tech that depreciates with 1% per month according to accounting standards). As a non-American, this fucker makes damn near 3 times what I make, and I make an above average amount of money. I'm not sure how benefits, savings and social security translate but he's been fucked for a long time. The bankruptcy should have proven this. He had two houses but never rented the Connecticut one, he just left it there gathering dust because he was incapable of talking to a property manager. He made $300k a year with machinima and somehow pissed it all away. Best of all he knows this, and it causes him enough anxiety to be entertaining but not enough to motivate his lazy ass to make his streams not shit. This underperforming marathon led me to a realisation: I always had in my mind that Phil earns more than me, but is an idiot and wastes all his money and that's why he has a khando to show for and that's that (besides tech that depreciates with 1% per month according to accounting standards).
