People tend to forget that sound waves are real, physical things. Just because they're invisible doesn't change that they're actual physical things with mass. A low frequency bass wave can easily be about 22 feet long and when it hits you, you feel it. It's why when you're in a club, if the bass is pounding hard enough you feel it in your gut. Put enough energy behind it at a low enough frequency (physical damage to your guts) or high enough frequency (nosebleeds, confusion, nausea) and you can easily get your insides scrambled by something you can't even hear. Sound waves are directed energy. So a DEW doesn't have to be just lasers.
