Blizzard of 2026 (January edition) thread - Preparing for Snowmageddon

Colder'n a muhfuggah out today. Feels like -20F. At least we don't have snow in the forecast.

Remember to pick your windshield wipers up before the snow!
That is the other issue. Once the storm passes, the Arctic High pressure system is going to push the North Pole's weather down into Ohio. Anything that gets dumped will not melt. Further, people who lose power will have to contend with temperatures in the Teens as far south as Tennessee, and for the northern plains, they are looking at temperatures well below 0.

My front door froze solid from the outside today. Not just a little bit, we're talking an inch or more of sheet ice covering my entire doorway. What a great excuse not to go to work today.
"Sorry, I can't. I'm a prisoner in my own home."

Just got upgraded to 25-30"

I think the worst I ever dealt with was -25 F, at 5am up in the mountains. Still had to dig out the car and drive slide to work, boo hoo. I keep hoping one of these storms is going to make the east coast freeze and fall off, much like a wart.
Honestly the Mountains will be in much more trouble then the Coast is for this one.

Last year, maintenance had enough of storms blowing out transformers and shit back-to-back so extensive work was done on the trees and transformers themselves. There were a few more seasonal floods in my state but over here it was just a downpour and nothing worse. Hopefully the added effort in repairs and pruning across the neighborhood softens the blow.

I got some stuff from the store yesterday. Bottled water was out. TP and milk almost out. Sparkling water almost out.

I think they restocked today. But i'm ready.

Forgot to grab fuel for the generator that's too small for the house that doesn't have a hookup installed for it.

I'm at least baking fresh bread and bought milk yesterday. I shall survive.

Its -45F where I am. I had to dig through 8 feet of snow to get to my car. The snot dripping down from my nose froze into icicles, and stabbed me in my neck. Missed my cartotid artery by a millimeter. The wound froze shut.

I hate the fucking cold so much. It's -10 around me and it's just seeping through the walls. Why do I not live in Florida? Why am I so stupid?
