CNN has so little confidence in the entertainment value of the riots that they are running a Chevy Chase documentary right now. And over on MSNBC Mark Kelly is crying his eyes out over his own problems to Rachael Maddow rather than them talking about the riots.

This should have been the big night to do something and they are doing nothing. It seems like its all run its course. But hopefullly someone will show some spirit and give us a riot.

I'm willing to huff copium that there are still many bad actors present in the Justice Department and understand you can't just fire the entire department and hope you don't run everything into the ground, but there is no reason the administration shouldn't be pulling Biden Era shenanigans with loyalists in the FBI to create honeypots operating similar to the Gretchen Whitmer 'kidnapping' plot. The playbook is right there, just use it.

I think that ICE-denying McDonalds is the Uptown McDonalds. Pre-George Floyd riots, uptown was the minneapolis playground of the rich and white whose police-protected neighborhoods are just down the road. But post-Floyd they have not been able to police the trouble out of the area in the ways they used to.

Back in December, that same McDonalds announced it would lock its doors during business honors and only allow entry to selective people due to crime and really awful people coming in who scared off the white customers.
But now that basically "racist" in progressive terms Mcdonalds is now the hero of the local progressive community for keeping ICE out.

For me, that was always the worst part about that area and Minneapolis progressives in general. Most everything they do is performative or corrupt. And the politics of the state and the people who run it are exceedingly corrupt. Tim Walz was the perfect governor not because he was smart or a good politician. The special skill of Tim Walz behind the scenes is his ability to divide up the loot between all the different groups behind the democratic party.

The worst part about the Government in Minneapolis and the surrounding suburbs is that the elected city governments really have almost no power at all. All the power over real estate development and local government and many powers related to taxation actually rests in the hands of an anti-democratic institution known as the Metropolitan Council whose members are all appointed and unaccountable to anyone. And the reality of how the council actually works is that it puts nearly all power over the seven biggest counties in the state indirectly in the hands of a bunch of very wealthy families. As their plaything.

The voters of the state also - by choice - created two enormously corrupt slush funds in the state funded directly out of sales tax money. Both funds basically spend the money from the sales tax in whatever way they want are and (again) not accountable to anyone. Especially not the state legislature in terms of how the money is spent. One fund is for the "enviornment" and the other is for "the arts". Because they are unaccountable, the money is used in questionable and IMO often corrupt ways. And nobody in the state can stop it.

Why is the state like that? Some people will blame norway or sweden. But the truth is something else. The establishment that runs the state retains power because it has a death-grip on the information the locals consume and because the taxpayers own money is weaponized against them to keep the democratic party in power. In Minnesota, its only news if a handful of people controlling things decide its news.

They mean well, but they're naive and easily influenced and guilt tripping and emotional blackmail is very effective against them. One of the things I find infinitely amusing about the urban left in this country is that they can't stop themselves from protesting even when it's strategically counterproductive.

Absent the protests, what do we have? An ICE officer shooting a white woman armed with an SUV. Sure it might be justified, but the optics are bad and it could have been used quite effectively in the dem messaging for the 2026 and 2028 elections.

Instead, the protests went to the gayest 2020-core bullshit that immediately reminded the electorate of the Summer of Floyd and killed any kind of good will the median voter might have had for the anti-ICE message.
