Desperate/grieving/grifting Moms making medical decisions for their children is NOT the child being a strong willed Fighter!

Battle front language is sadly part of every illness. You have cancer? You have a battle with cancer, with winners and losers and warriors. Whatever disease a person has, it’s Don’t give up, keep a positive attitude, you’ll prevail . If somebody dies, they lost the battle, if they don’t they are a fighter. Whether it’s terminal or highly curable, these are the things people always say, so I’m not surprised it’s spilled over into this sick kids community as well.

People somehow are under the impression people control when they die. Even hospice nurses say it. Dad lived through Christmas for you. He waited until you were in the room to die, or he waited until you were out of the room so you wouldn’t have to see. They’ll say both and mean it.

It’s all nonsense of course, if people had that kind of control nobody would die.

I don’t blame the mothers for this one as much, it’s really unavoidable. A few smart people won’t use this language but most people are sheep, which is also why everything is a “journey” now.

And worst part is that I've heard (but haven't confirmed that) that positive thinking doesn't actually improve your survival chances with cancer.
You should be happy for yourself not for imaginary chances of getting better.
When you have had an easy life listening to this bullcrap is whatever. But when you've had some actual trauma in your life you cringe from this

Statistical error. You don't hear the stories of people dying in the hospice just before the family comes to say their final goodbye. And you don't know which stories are true. Some people might lie they got just in time because it looks bad to say "yeah I didn't bother to visit my mother for a year and she died alone there".
