A hospital in the US cannot put somebody on end of life care without consent, there are laws in place to prevent that scenario. This stupid woman doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

If a case is deemed medically futile and a hospital doesn’t want to treat it becomes a legal process, decided in a court, and is not quick. It is not a hospital decision. But if another hospital is willing to treat her, nobody will stop it.

I think the UK exerts more control over this type of thing but in the US you can take your kid anywhere, and if you don’t want a DNR they are required to shock her back to life as many times as it takes. (And then the poor docs have nightmares.)

This woman is encouraging uninformed idiots to take up a hospital’s time and if people start calling it should be considered harrassment.

She’s a strange type of munchie by proxy. Not only does she use her own sick kid and hospitals for attention while bad mouthing them, she uses her misunderstanding of other people’s misunderstandings to bad mouth other hospitals. Wild. She’s going to get the kind of attention that leads her daughter to have no doctors.

She feels like harassing hospitals is her calling so even if her kid dies she’ll still do this on behalf of other medically illiterate people without ever doing a bit of research to discover if she’s wrong or not.

I am sure it never feels like enough was done when it's your child, or that it was too much, or that something must explain why such a terrible thing happened. Yeah there is a lot of stuff she doesn't know. If the child was brain dead there would be no special care just pulling the plug with respect and maybe some prayers. As a parent, I totally understand why these people are delusional. But also as a parent, the obvious abject suffering of VERY terminally ill children makes me fucking sick. At some point you have to accept that while YOU want your child to live, the prognosis of never having any independence or quality of life is worse than death.

I know people with terminally ill fully dependent children, and their only goal is keeping suffering to a minimum and enjoyment as high as possible. Some of the kids here aren’t even capable of joy, it’s just awful.

I would be beyond pissed off if I had a baby in the NICU and a bunch of keyboard warrior mommies were harassing the staff at all hours and preventing them from doing their jobs, all because they heard an incomplete (and likely inaccurate) story from a medically-illiterate moron who hates every hospital except CHOP. And be assured, the day will come when Brittainy gets mad at them and goes scorched earth. Then the story will probably be about how CHOP took Revie off too many meds and wouldn’t admit her and couldn’t find out if she actually had an infection so they just gave her a million courses of antibiotics and sent her home.

I don’t know how she’s selling this narrative to anyone, much less herself, that Revie is doing so much better. She seems to be as sick as she ever was, and is always having some test done to rule something out. At her million clinic visits she always shits all over herself and the stroller then has a seizure and falls on the floor. Never does Britt have a change of clothes or wipes or the common sense to plan for this thing that seems to happen every fucking time. Meanwhile, her daughters are engaging in classic “I’ve been parentified!” behaviors and are clearly not having their needs met. They’d be better off being raised by their dad’s family for sure.

Glasses for the legally blind can benefit them in other ways beyond eyesight. I'll leave further explanations to people who know more about this than I do.

I came here to say that my local newspaper recently did a big story about a young adult woman in the region who has a serious chromosomal deletion that has left her functioning at the level of a preschooler; she can walk, talk, feed and dress herself, and is toilet-trained but that is about it. They found out that she had metastatic breast cancer, and had several clinics flat out refuse to treat her because the family is insisting that Everything Be Done even though she doesn't understand what is happening to her, beyond "You have an owie on your chest, and the treatments will make you not feel good". Most of the doctors just wanted to do surgery, with radiation as comfort care, but her parents don't want just that done, just because she's mentally disabled.

C'mon, this isn't for you, it's about what's best FOR HER.

This woman died at home several days ago, shortly before her 32nd birthday.
