The thing you need to understand about Animat is that not only is he a raging lefty, but he is a prime example of a Disney adult.
He doesn't give movies high scores based on their quality.
He gives high ratings to whatever film makes him "feel good," and you see this in all the movies he recently reviewed.

He gave Elio an 8/10 and even claimed that the animation was the best part of the film.
Even though it uses the dreaded bean mouth style. A Art style everyone has grown to despise for how ugly and overused it is.

He defended the live-action Lio & Stitch remake.
He even went so far as to defend the ending, which bastardizes the original movie about Lio and her big sister, Nani, trying to stay together as a family. Then he changed it to Nani going to California for college and Lio being handed over to someone to raise.
But to Animat, he claims all the changes Disney made made the film more "complex."

He even defended Wish and made the bold decision to claim the animation and songs were actually good!

Animat's credibility as a critic is worthless because, time and time again, he has proven absolutely terrible at objectively reviewing films and far too biased to give an accurate rating.

Even beyond that, something that the YT channel Film Threat pointed out is how Elio messes with the rule of thirds.

I didn't even think about that rule before I watched Film Threat talking about Elio, but it basically goes like this: Try to draw your viewer's eyes away from the center of the image by having them look at the sides of the image to enhance the quality of the overall piece.

I'm probably mangling the actual description of what that rule means. In the context of Film Threat talking about Elio, they played clips of the Elio trailer pointing out that a majority of the action including the characters is center-frame. Elio and any actions he takes barely approaches the edges of the animation on screen in most of the shots in the trailer.

It may seem like a minor detail, but it's artistic techniques like this that make me understand more and more how important it is to frame cinematography including animation with the right perspectives in mind.

I think this old review of Jonah: a veggietales movie is the worst thing I've seen from him.

I grew up watching veggietales (not really for the christian stuff but more they were cheap and easy to find on vhs and dvd and when i was little I thought veggietales was funny)
And he says the most dumb shit in this review
