💰 Grifter Mat Brunet / AniMat / ElectricDragon505 / Electric Dragon Productions / AniMat's Crazy Cartoon Cast / AniMat505 / AniMatLive - French-Canadian cartoon reviewer, podcaster, voice actor, and (shitty) artist. Leftist panderer and slacktivist. Politically illiterate Trump and Elon hater. Disney adult. Was an extra on CBS' Ghosts.

You have no idea, right you are.

The thing you need to understand about Animat is that not only is he a raging lefty, but he is a prime example of a Disney adult.
He doesn't give movies high scores based on their quality.
He gives high ratings to whatever film makes him "feel good," and you see this in all the movies he recently reviewed.

He gave Elio an 8/10 and even claimed that the animation was the best part of the film.
Even though it uses the dreaded bean mouth style. A Art style everyone has grown to despise for how ugly and overused it is.

He defended the live-action Lio & Stitch remake.
He even went so far as to defend the ending, which bastardizes the original movie about Lio and her big sister, Nani, trying to stay together as a family. Then he changed it to Nani going to California for college and Lio being handed over to someone to raise.
But to Animat, he claims all the changes Disney made made the film more "complex."

He even defended Wish and made the bold decision to claim the animation and songs were actually good!

Keep in mind, these are the songs Animat thinks are good.

He even went as far as to describe it as "the Pop version of Colors Of The Wind from Pocahontas," and keep in mind these are songs that even most feminists despise.

Animat's credibility as a critic is worthless because, time and time again, he has proven absolutely terrible at objectively reviewing films and far too biased to give an accurate rating.
Not to mention he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Especially when it comes to franchise that’s not Disney. Example he doesn’t know the history of Thomas the tank engine. Which last year was his 80th Anniversary. With the whole All Engines Go happened and as I do recall in that episode. He said, at least All Engines Go doesn’t tell us to take the COVID vaccines.

Even beyond that, something that the YT channel Film Threat pointed out is how Elio messes with the rule of thirds.

I didn't even think about that rule before I watched Film Threat talking about Elio, but it basically goes like this: Try to draw your viewer's eyes away from the center of the image by having them look at the sides of the image to enhance the quality of the overall piece.

I'm probably mangling the actual description of what that rule means. In the context of Film Threat talking about Elio, they played clips of the Elio trailer pointing out that a majority of the action including the characters is center-frame. Elio and any actions he takes barely approaches the edges of the animation on screen in most of the shots in the trailer.

It may seem like a minor detail, but it's artistic techniques like this that make me understand more and more how important it is to frame cinematography including animation with the right perspectives in mind.

Which podcast episode was that? I thought it was this one from 2021 until you said his 80th Anniversary, which was last year.

Note how he said that he thought All Engines Go actually looked like a "great show"? Showing how much of a tourist normie he is with Thomas. The reboot was so hated that even little kids couldn't stand it? Ya know, the target audience? And to say "At least All Engines Go doesn't tell us to take the COVID vaccines!" By God, even TheUnluckyTug (Who likely knows that his audience wouldn't want to here the politics of a Thomas Historian) hasn't made such a stupid comment. It's like he was TRYING to be an edgy contrarian.

Keep in mind, in this collab video with Rachel Review's where they talk about their top favorite animated films, he said that Elio had "better direction" than K-Pop Demon Hunters. Continuing his defensive crusade against the whole "K-Pop Demon Hunters > Elio" mob.

Nevermind that K-Pop had a more appealing art style to it, but from what I remember, I'm pretty sure it didn't constantly abuse the whole center-frame cinematography. And even if the story was flawed, one could argue Elio was even more flawed with the whole "change of directors" controversy, to which even Rachael pointed out in the video.

But no, Mat's gotta show how out-of-touch his reviewing skills have become, just for the sake of defending his holy grail.

He just hate KPop demon hunters because it got more attention then Elio. Geez, I thought he wants to be open minded and not be racist. But when Disney is being attacked or their movies are failing he defends them for the retarded reasons. Especially when he defends Period Red, a movie for the liberals period fetish.

I always thought he hated kpop demon hunters because its a sony movie, and being he has a track record of hating most stuff from sony pictures animation, ie: the hotel transylvania movies, the cloudy with a chance of meatballs duology, the open season movies, the emoji movie, the star, the angry birds movies, and the fully animated smurfs movie (the only exceptions for this are the spiderverse movies because he'd be on a pike if he hated something made by jews for niggers. Or surfs up and the two aardman movies put out by sony pictures)

I thought I was gonna hate Kpop demon hunters as well. Because anime expressions don’t work with CGI. Turns out I love it. The female characters weren’t Bitchy Girl Bosses. Didn’t talked down to the audience. And the music is good.

Mat's so progressive, he's making a stand against a Korean animated movie.

Maybe he thinks it's too "cartoony".

Also had a great villain.

I think this old review of Jonah: a veggietales movie is the worst thing I've seen from him.
I grew up watching veggietales (not really for the christian stuff but more they were cheap and easy to find on vhs and dvd and when i was little I thought veggietales was funny)
And he says the most dumb shit in this review
>I thought veggietales was a show about learning to eat your vegetables not a show that teaches about god.
>The film is more about god stuff than good animation
>Big Idea doesn't specialize in cgi
>the veggietales may be known for spreading the message of god in a goofy way, but their not known for having good, memorable characters.
>veggietales is the most popular christian animated franchise. (he says it like its a bad thing)
By the way he gave paw patrol: the movie and its sequel (2 literal fucking movies based on a baby show thats also based on a shitty toyline) a higher rating than this (a 7/10 for the first and a 6/10 compared to jonah's 5/10) he gave the new spongebob movie a 6/10 too,

He’s probably an atheist.

He’s probably an atheist.
I'd say so too, but considering he also did a review on the prince of egypt (a movie with god and whatnot) and gave it a 9/10 for the story, and 10/10 for the animation, the characters and the overall score. I think he was just playing semantics because to him veggietales is just filler compared to anything disney or dreamworks related

And to think this review was from 2015, before all the politisperging.

He literally says before the ratings pop up for the first paw patrol movie and I quote.
"I am a grown man, I currently have no kids of my own, and I am not ashamed to say that I enjoyed the paw patrol movie.
He reviews literal infant slop and gives it a higher review than jonah: a veggietales movie (which yes is a kids movie, but a better kids movie than paw patrol: the movie)

And VeggieTales at least has a sizable adult following.

Here's the bit after the review where he talks about how hes "too old" to understand veggietales (becuause its goofy and the christianity aspect), he then compares jonah, to the care bears movie and home (the movie with jim parsons as the purple alien) because they're "bad" movies that don't know any better and at least teach some lessons (basically calling it a babysitter movie)

Just posted his Best and Worst of 2025.

Even before he would make it, I KNEW it would start out with political doomerism like he has since....damn, 2016. Notice how it gets more and more obnoxious with each passing year.

And look at that! More mentioning of his favorite buzzword, "wHiTe cHrIsTiAn nAtIoNaLiSm"! Hell, the most recent discussions have been making me cook up this even bigger post that I....have to put on hold for now.

So consider this "To Be Continued"......
