I think it's interesting that the US President can order the US military to abduct the leader of a foreign country, have the replacement hand over 30-50 million barrels of oil, and have the US government sell it and send the money to his own purse, and that doesn't lead to him getting impeached within seconds.

They got him to invade Venezuela by promising him oil, because he doesn't understand economics or geopolitics, and he doesn't care about anything but enriching and aggrandizing himself personally. The US President can be coaxed to act by being promised shiny rocks or gold for his personal enrichment, and both factions in his own government and foreign governments have used that to manipulate him now.

It must be my imagination that buying a house was completely out of most peoples' ability since like 2010, after the great recession and the wealth consolidation of the rich. If anything he could probably blame Obama and have something almost resembling a point (even though any non idiot knows the great recession was Bush and not Obama). Now I'm just waiting for the day when Trump or someone claims the CHIPS Act came to Donald in a dream, but Joe went like Freddy Kreuger and stole the idea from him.
The idea is nice; however, I am highly skeptical anything major will happen. This seems more like something to say to ensure he has the vote of the younger generations, since they're the ones getting assfucked on getting a home, and for the last year, this dipshit has done nothing to alleviate their issues, unless you count "50-year mortgages". And that is actually a negative that probably LOST him support than gaining it.
If he ACTUALLY manages to come out with some laws or regs or whatever to stop Blackstone and all these corporate property firms, or make it ACTUALLY easier to build new houses/renovate old ones, then I will be pleasantly shocked. But I'm not holding my breath that he'll actually do it.
You have to remember, this is an 80 year old man; his memory is spotty from the get-go. All he has is his grudge against Biden for beating him, and 'bowing out' before the rematch. Thus, he has to blame anything and everything on Biden, whether or not it actually is the guy's fault. House prices? Biden's fault. Epstein list? Biden's fault. International world thinks you suck? Biden's fault. Morning salad is a little dry? Biden's fault. Penis is tiny and can't get erect? Biden's fault.
As for the recession, I'd kinda say the recession itself was Bush's fault, but Obama fucked up in that he should've taken a belt to the finance and bank exec's asses with some heavy regulation or oversight, which he didn't really do.
TBF, "making empty promises" has been a political staple since ancient times. The problem is current day tribalism has hit super-high levels to the point where, to many of the people, the promises don't matter as much as making the guy on the other team mad.
