Capturing Maduro and foiling Chinese and Russian designs on Central and South America were solid strategic moves and so was the disruption of the Iranian nuclear program. Only a fool would think otherwise.

Bombing Iran, bombing the Houthis, helping Israel with bombing Gaza, bombing Venezuela (and taking its leader) are all basically wars of aggression even if it's short lived sessions due to Trump having too short an attention span to stick to only starting/supporting a single conflict in a year.

The Venezuela bit seems likely to have been done either because Trump figured it'd guarantee him getting a ton of oil, which there's no chance of because it'd be too costly for companies to put in new infrastructure for it and it'd lower oil prices. Or because he figured it'd make it easier for him to argue Venezuela is now safe so all Venezuelans can be deported to there, which also doesn't work since he's keeping the regime in place and trying to get that opposition leader some token position to play pretend that anything is changing there.

Plus given the regime is staying in place, there's little reason to think they'd suddenly cut off their connections to China or Russia.

Trump looks to be trying to just ask Venezuela if they can get some trade deal to have the US invest a fortune into the country in return for helping Venezuela massively profit from a rejuvenated oil industry while not really doing anything meaningful to cut off its ties to America's adversaries.

The main issues are Russia and China. The others will likely prove superior opposition to Maduro, but otherwise the military can easily take them all on if we stop caring about optics. China and Russia however would be able to win optics or not. The other issue is potentially allies of our country turning on us. America can take any country one on one, but if China and Russia teamed up or if Europe teamed up we'd be screwed.

Again, in the moment I see it as a Trump Dub, because if the world worked in a vacuum Maduro was a vile pos who should be removed from power and probably executed. But we're not in a vacuum and the problem with capturing Maduro was never Maduro or Venezuela.
