This issue has resurfaced as a Somalian, Iman Osman, was sworn in last night as a Lewiston city councilor despite currently being under investigation for using a false address to run for city council. He was also previously arrested for multiple gun thefts.

Every Somalian present rallied around him while trying to use western values like "rule of law", "freedom of speech", and "democratic values" against the locals who took issue with Iman being sworn in. Twisting their arm until they cry uncle, and letting us "buy" Greenland is literally the most humiliating way that this could go. Thats an admission of an inability to defend their territory from us militarily and ceding it, it's tantamount to surrender. Whatever amount we pay will be far far less than the land is actually worth.

I know it's been said, but fuck it, when we take Greenland rename it to Orangeland. Really rub their faces in it. And reprint "The Art of The Deal" as a second edition, add a chapter about the acquisition of Greenland Orangeland, and then air drop copies all over Europe.

I don't understand how the people of Greenland wouldn't take a combo of Puerto Rico + Alaska deal. You get to be your own country yet also US Citizens along with every citizen personally getting checks from any company that drill/mines in the country.

And that’s just the purely economic bit. There’s some demoralization in there too.

You see it happen in your formative years. Maybe you’re too young or too programmed to articulate what you’re seeing, but on some level you know. The conscientious ones tend to check out or lash out when they realize the scale and nature of the wrong. The ones that still try and work with this shit tend to be some combination of dim, bullheaded, or legitimately privileged. Stare into the abyss and all that. Makes me think of some of the thinking on civil rights before that all went to hell.

When Israel imported Ethiopian Jews into Israel, Israeli doctors offered the women the chance to take Depo-Provera to prevent contraception. This was never in question. The allegation is that Ethiopian women didn't understand what they were agreeing to or that they were forced to. Investigations found that there was no systematic attempt to force them or trick them into taking the birth control.

Depo-Provera also only lasts for 3 months, it's not a permanent sterilization.
