1. US has informants in Venesuela
2. US has their own bankrolled politicians in Venesuela
3. Maduro, mob and other criminals will not let go of power, so 1 & 2 getting political light won't happen.
4. They took the churro "to-go" as they have direct benefit from that, else they would have turned him into pink mist from air
5. It is very likely he got sold out by 1, 2 or by himself, to get him away from nr. 3 mobs and narco mafias.
6. Power vacuum will just get filled by more criminally person
7. US probably wants a slimy deal to get control over refineries, depos and ports back, without touching the rest of problems in the state and are counting that he will sell others out so he can get freedom. He gets returned to power after serving his "sentence" and US gets control over oil.
8. New elections in 30 days means they need to do 2+7 fast.
9. China is observing this closely and can leap in to fill the power vacuum and/or just cause immense difficulties for oil exports to US.
10. Reinvesting into oil refineries/depos/wells is expensive and the US can still get shafted out again after they rebuild everything and it gets captured by other party again.
11. You can't operate oil transfers in hostile seas. Without people willing to fill your ships and sabotaging everything you got, it's pointless to even try.

It's bizarre to me that you're extenuating one conflict while exaggerating another. Do you really think I'm going to believe you when you say that Putin was just defending his border when he sent a conga line of trucks and tanks to Ukraine's capital? Do you think I'd believe that Maduro had no hand in causing the migrant and fentanyl crisis in the United States? I'm already too informed for this ridiculous trick to work.
Moreover, I've noticed that there's always a cluster of contrarians who enter into threads like this, and to achieve what, I have no idea. It was a huge phenomenon in the Shiloh Hendrix thread, and it always comes from sleeper accounts that almost never post. Are you a paid shill or do you hold these opinions sincerely? Even if this was just about oil, it is unequivocally a good thing. Anyone malding about this is a reddit fag. Wars (especially easy, quick, in n out “wars” like this one) abroad are a positive thing for a nation as powerful as the United States. It is a financial boon given the supply of sour heavy crude (which the U.S. is readily equipped to process) that will be gained from this without having to damage any of he natural resources of the U.S., and preventing it from going to enemy nations, it gives the opposition something to bitch about that they are completely impotent to influence in any way (it’s always better to have them protesting about something outside the borders than within them, especially as clear cut as this is compared to things in the middle east it’ll make them look even more retarded than usual when they bitch about it), it fucks over canadian fags who haven’t been capitulating to the direction the U.S. is heading, and it provides a great opportunity give a display to the rest of the world of military preparedness, on the level of desert storm in its absolute dominance.
I read somewhere that part of the reasoning for the forever wars that the U.S. has engaged in is that they allow for a constant supply of military personal that have actually participated in combat. Exercises and training no matter how good are never a replacement for actual operations where there are people dying on the other end of your weapons and a real risk to the lives of the soldiers participating, and this was the perfect low stakes opportunity for that, which went off without a hitch, solidifying for the first time really in the Trump era that the U.S. military is still the most effective on the planet.
It doesn’t really matter if the excuses for this of drugs/migrants being sent from Venezuela are bullshit, that mostly just streamlines the legal process for it and adds a few more pounds to the scales of justice against Maduro when he is prosecuted. I will be interested to see in the aftermath what role, if any, the technologies of the newer MIC firms like Palantir had in this operation, I suspect their stock will get a nice boost when the markets open this morning. Wish I still held some halliburton or occidental shares, it’ll be interesting to see too how it impacts oil extraction from Guyana.

There are rumors that the US now has access to the S-300VM missile and Buk upgraded systems from ground intel. We have had access to the S-300 for a while now post USSR collapse but getting access to new upgraded variants will tell us a lot about Russia capability and build quality in 2025 when they were ordered. This is all assuming we can still gather data since they cooked off and melted the tank chassis they were on. The info will no doubt be passed onto Ukraine.

They left in 2019 after the Guaido fiasco, before that they had a lot of the things they lack today: people, military allies, political power, infraestructure, etc. Things that they did nothing with, Trump was backing them up and all they did was use the money to migrate to Spain or Miami (like Guaido), time and time again they all have been good for is to be controlled oposition, from allowing Chavez to blatantly steal elections, to do nothing with the proof of it (the 2024 election was not the first time it was proven they where stolen) and keeping people passive with promises that they had a 4D chess plan that this time fr fr it will happen no cap, and people kept falling for it, my last straw was 2017, the ENTIRE country went to to caracas to protest, including injuns from bumfuck nowhere and they did NOTHING they told people to go home and the people left the rioters alone to be kidnapped and murdered, i knew that nothing will happen with those faggots leading anything, is not about them not being here, because there is a lot of exiled military they could have gathered to form a team like Simonovis or the now killed by Tren de Aragua Leutenant Ojeda, God himself could come down from heaven and give them archangels to aid them in battle and they will STILL do nothing because they benefit more from being the eternal underdog than actually enacting change because thats their business model.

What's funny is this essentially is God almighty coming down with all his archangels. The first American President in a century to just say it flat out that we are going back to 19th century foreign policy. Not even going to hide the mailed fist with a velvet glove anymore like in the 20th century.
Its going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Especially since Trump is so transactional. The man is not ideologically motivated. All he wants is results and if the Chavistas give him results he will let them stay in power. Funnily enough the results he wants is for Venezuela to start selling oil legally again and not on the Grey Market to Cuba and China, and to turf out drug cartels.
By any metric that is an insanely reasonable demand considering what could be demanded right now. But of course commies are not reasonable. Apparently driving an entire nations economy into the dirt and shipping oil to cuba for free so they can sell it to China at a discount is totally wholesome chungus, but selling to the Americans at market rates and letting their corporations develop oil onfrastructure is imperialism.
What's crazy about all this beyond just how brain dead stupid Venezuelas foreign and economic policy was is Maduro honestly believed the magic pieces of paper that said this cant be done would make it not happen. Even though the magic papers that have international laws written on them were only backed up if America felt like enforcing them. Nobody else gave a shit about them, and the moment America stopped giving a shit the magic in the papers was lost.
It really is interesting seeing commies wailing about the USA being a rogue state though. The entire rules based international order died two nights ago in Caracas and everyone still screaming and and saying it isn't so. This was my objection to a intervention in 2019, although they had more allies the opposition at that time was even more liberal and therefore useless. We don't do massive military interventions for a bunch of soc Dems. I always despise the Elliott Abrams idea of what to do there.
Trump's Latin American policy has been excellent in the second term, the way he empowered the South American right is exactly what should be done. But when I see the opposition they look like a bunch of centrist fags to me.
