2026 releases you are excited for

Resident Evil Requiem right now. Im an RE fan so I am ready and waiting to day one purchase this day one as my first 2026 game. I view everything else as a hypothetical this early in the year. Crimson Desert is giving me potential sleeper hit vibes though. I also think this year is already looking better compared to 2025 which in my opinion was pretty damn weak.

As a general rule, I stay away from early access, demo and all manner of unfinished works, so no.

It's made by the devs of Iratus, a game I personally enjoyed, but Ubisoft is also involved, so I'm torn between it's so over and we're so back.

I do recommend the demo, it's only an hour or so, but if they hold to what's in there, then it might be ok. There's an additional layer of bulkshit with the magic system, but otherwise it cleaves pretty close to the good old days. It's not EA or anything, just a demo. But yeah, there's plenty of room for it to go to shit considering all the hands involved.

Tomodachi Life 2

It's a comedic life simulator where you make custom characters and watch them interact. The sequel is going out of the apartment building and onto the streets, and it looks like it might have an expanded relationship system along the lines of the RPG spinoff.

RE: Requiem
I'm a sucker for horror and actions games and this one looks promising.

Greedfall 2
Looks like Dragon Age Origins but in colonial times. Very interested on the switch from action to RTWP combat for the sequel.

Dark Hersey
It's more Rogue Trader. If you like crpgs you already know about this one. I'll buy any owlslop that company craps out.

The two new tomb raider games
I'm unsure about these two, but they look way better then the last three tomb raider games. Little annoying they're remaking the first game again though.

My current favorite studio Tengo project said in a tweet the're working on something. If you don't know the studio they're a team of old-heads from the 90s natsume, making remakes of they're old games from the nes/snes days. Great pixel art and the studio doesn't compromise the "dated" design for modern-audiences. They embrace limited controls, limited lives and knock back as artistic decisions rather than products of the past. The current contenders are Shatter-hand(nes) and Kiki Kaikai 2(Snes) for remakes based on what they have left.

Literally just this so far. Such a unique series and I love the folk horror theme. And an honorable mention:
FF2 is one of my favorite horror games. I'm a little weary of the remake so far, as i'm still worried about any censorship that might makes its way into the final game. If it turns out the be clean then I might look at it.

This is the first i've heard of this. Valis is one of those mediocre series you'd never expect to live past the 90's. From the little searching I did, are you sure it exists? There's no trailers or anything.

FINALLY A SUDA 51 title that looks promising and won't end up utterly underwhelming like NMH 3.

Another title I'm gonna get shat on for is;DELTARUNE Ch 5. I know the fanbase is utter fucking satans radioactive asshole tier cancer but fuck I would be lying to myself if i didn't say it's the rpgs i have played that didn't bore me to death in the first 10 hours of it. Just praying that toby doesn't utterly fuck the ending of it all up. That is also assuming if he finishes it which will be by the time null finally accepts that American cheese is better.

Like every year, I'm looking forward to the one or two releases I wanted from the previous year to go on sale for half-off because 50% of the sticker-price is just the impatient retard tax

I will eventually pick up Dark Heresy, but if you haven't learned by now to wait at least 6 months for post-launch stability patches for Owlcat releases, I don't know what'll teach you

To preface: this is going to be mostly PC-based indies, and I have zero guarantees that they'll actually be good. These're a smattering of the better titles I'm following on Steam (200+) which have confirmed 2026 release dates, and at least one is mostly included here as a joke. I'm expecting maybe 1/10 of these titles to actually be good, or even great, and I'm more posting these to spread awareness and share some stuff I at some point was looking forward to with people I mostly appreciate and can converse with.

Anyways! I'm going to follow OP's format for ease of browsing. Here we go. Sorting alphabetically, we have:

  • A really gorgeous game with a really interesting concept! I think I actually learned of this game from the Farms, but it was in a quieter thread that I don't think most people frequent.
  • The setting seems to be a sort of Grimm-ish low fantasy thing with maybe some pike and shot influences.
  • I'm looking forward to it even if just from a visual standpoint. It seems incredibly unique and definitely made with love. Early Access reviews are already positive, and the devs seem to be taking feedback into account for the most part. I hope all goes well and it releases as a competent, fully-fledged title.
  • Worth noting: I actually don't know if this is coming out in 2026. I'm including it here for the sake of possibility, because its Early Access banner states that it's meant to be in EA for "~1 year." Given that it was released into Early Access in September 2024, and is well past the "one year" point, I'm assuming it won't come out any later than December 2026 if it comes out at all (given that development is still active).

  • DISCLAIMER: I am not a Grand Strategy autist. But I know I have the potential to become one. I have played Eu4, I have played Hoi4. Even though I had no fucking clue what I was doing for the first 20 hours in either of them, I felt the pull. Unfortunately, I am not hypernationalist enough to find satisfaction in painting maps with my Greatest Nation of choice, so neither game appealed to me enough to push through the 90-degree learning curve. All this is to say: I am unfamiliar with the genre. I am probably not the best at explaining why this game may or may not be good, or how it compares to its "competitors". Take anything I say that's to do with the nitty-gritty of Grand Strategy with a grain of salt.
  • This is a Grand Strategy game that's not made by Paradox! Holy shit, it might actually have a chance of launching in a decent state.
  • Anyways, it's set at the beginning of the Cold War and revolves entirely around subterfuge and espionage (hence the name). It's not really competing with Hoi4 or Eu4; its gameplay systems seem to be similar, but different enough to mostly stand on its own.
  • I am personally excited for this because the subject matter is right up my alley. I've been into spy shit since I was a retarded 4 year old, and I do genuinely like the idea of Grand Strategy games. Given that this fuses both, I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot when it releases.
  • The game's slated to release in "2026," without a real release date yet. Updates have been pretty consistent and vocal about what the game's like and what's in its future.

1767293676525.png1767293693374.png1767293709798.png
  • A more direct competitor to Paradox's stuff, published by the same guys as Espiocracy (Hooded Horse) but developed by a completely different team.
  • I've heard this is moreso in the vein of Victoria 2 (rather than Hoi4/Eu4), so I'm not sure it's really comparable to Espiocracy outside of the genre. I've wanted to get into Vic2 for some time now, but Paradox's DLC practices have always put me off so this seems like a better starting point. It seems to mostly revolve around economics as opposed to politics, which is another boon.
  • Revolves around the Industrial Age, but I think you might be able to go past that?
  • Release date is a vague "2026," but the devs have been updating it relatively consistently.
  • Already delayed a year because the devs severely underestimated the amount of resources a Grand Strategy game would entail. Not sure it'll come out this year.

1767294297010.png1767294318190.png1767294333783.png
  • The genre's in question because this is trying to do something new-ish. It's a turn-based strategy game that's also simultaneous. So... kind of an ARPG, kind of not.
  • Giant robots with turn-based fighting on an Into the Breach grid, me likey.
  • Seems to be made by one guy whose last game was a decently-received Bullet Hell. Adjust expectations accordingly.
  • Looking forward to this as both a giant robot fighting game (always good) and a neat experiment in genre. I don't think it'll be the best thing in the world, but it seems like an interesting curiosity. It's promising online multiplayer, which I do not have faith in, but that's not really a factor for me as I have no friends to play it with lol.
  • Release date is an unspecified "2026." Updates have been sparse, but relatively thorough.

  • Mewgenics (Turn-based Strategy/Roguelite/Creature Collector/Pet Breeder/Anonitolia Dognip)

  • I'm convinced Edmund McMillen broke into my house at some point, injected me with privacy-invading dream-stealing automatons, analyzed the data they extracted from the bottom of my very soul, and set about creating this game.
    • Alternatively, he could have stolen a game mock-up I drew when I was around 8 years old (that looked very similar to this game) and worked off of that instead. I still have that thing, though, so I'd consider that less likely.
  • In case you can't tell, I'm mildly excited for this title. I haven't even played Isaac, but this game is the kind of shit I dreamed about when I was a kid. I'd be crazy to ignore it.
  • Hybrid blend of a bunch of genres. Tactical RPG for the combat, Life Sim/Creature Collector for the in-between portions, Roguelite for both.
    • Coincidentally, all of these are some of my favorite genres ever (even if I'm beginning to tire of Roguelite thanks to oversaturation).
    • Also, they're all applied to horribly deformed and grotesque cat creatures whom you are supposed to breed into being HyperCompetent UberPowerful SuperJuicedUp Feline Warriors. (Perfect gremlins whom I shall dub according to their various maladies and boilerplate personalities.)
    • I'm not sure I was joking about the dream-stealing automatons. I've never met McMillen, so I'm not sure how else he could have created such a perfect game for me specifically. The idea of him simply sharing similar tastes to myself is just preposterous. Surely, that can't be it!
  • In development for ages. Set to release on February 10th, 2026. Dev has been so active with updates that every time I've checked the store page he's either put out a new one or done a live broadcast to compensate. Pretty sure it's coming out on this date.
  • Unrelated cat images that express my love for the game and showcase a loose approximation of my future party.
wise_old_man.jpg maker_of_mischief.png elderly_statesman.PNG terrifying.png
They will be called "Felis Attackus."

1767295635456.png1767295649144.png1767295661708.png
  • The only AAA game I'm excited for without caveat. The last two games were great (if for very different reasons); the only thing holding this game back is Capcom's ffffucking DLC practices (and Denuvo). The price would also be a barrier if I ever bothered to financially support companies like this instead of scrounging around for heavy discounts.
    • Actually more excited for this than I was for 2, primarily because it's bringing back features that 2 dropped for no good reason (recoloring Monsties, changing Monstie types).
  • A straightforward sequel to the last two Monster Hunter Stories games. It's a vibrant Creature Collector set in the Monster Hunter universe, where you tame the excellently-designed monsters instead of hunting them for parts. The art style is more cutesy cel-shaded anime than the main series' realistic sheen.
    • I think it's set in a totally different location to the first two again. I'm not as familiar with the main series as I'd like to be, so let me know if the names Azuria or Vermeil ring any bells to normal MH fans.
  • Seems to be going for a darker story this time around? If nothing else, all the marketing has taken a more serious tone. Less "AW YEAH HUNTING WITH MY MONSTER BUDDIES" more "oh god the queen wants to kill us all." Just a heads-up in case you're getting this for your kids or something.
    • Highly doubt it'll ever breach PG13.
  • Lots of cool new features. Double-typed Monsties, an ecosystem conservation system that rewards you with greater Monstie customization, expanded Monstie riding that lets you fly around (what seems to be) an open world. All very good stuff that I'm looking forward to!
  • Releasing on March 13th, 2026 on literally every single current platform. Switch 2, Xbox whatever, PS5, you name it.

  • Tactical RPG with mechs and friendship and adventure, yes please. The gameplay looks interesting and unique, and the concept is pretty appealing to me.
  • Really not a fan of the art style or the character designs, but there's a custom character creator now so I care about the questionable characters a lot less. Also, "anime-inspired" is usually a giant red flag for me... but this game seems earnest enough in its love for the inspiration that I'm willing to give it a chance. Plus, it's mecha. Mecha stuff is mostly going to be anime. I'm not going to complain about there being soup in my soup bowl, it's unfortunately a package deal at this point.
  • Set in a post-apocalyptic(?) world overrun with rogue AI bots. You build your own bot to punch them in the face.
  • Technically already out in EA. Devs are communicative and update frequently. Launched with a 65%ish Mostly Positive and is slowly building its way up to an 85% Very Positive. Full release date is set for "May 2026."

  • AA attempt at the Jurassic Park concept. Made by dino autists, for dino autists. Seems surprisingly apolitical despite that. Can't believe I need to clarify this. :suffering:
  • Pretty much exactly what it says on the tin, with a very in-depth selection of dinos and features. Recently added breeding, dino diseases, in-depth genetics, a lot of smaller extinct animals alongside extinct plants, park rides, and more. Future plans include dino fights, habitat breakouts, human casualties, scenarios, trash accumulation, and more.
  • I've always liked park sims. I've always liked dinosaurs. I will probably like this game.
  • Technically already out in EA. Devs have been releasing major updates every ~3 months and minor updates throughout. Very communicative, very open, very productive. Will likely release in 1.0 this year, as the game is slated for a vague "2026" release date.

  • I love the first game dearly. This seems like more of the first game. Yes please.
    • I also think it had a lot to improve upon, so a sequel is welcome. Hopefully this one is a bit less RNG-heavy, though I'll still be fine if it isn't because I'm addicted to pain.
  • They did my boy Defect dirty. I do hope he's just a hidden unlockable or something. Necrobinder still seems cool, just in a different way.
  • Do I really need to explain Slay the Spire? I will anyways. Set in a spooky haunted tower thing where everything wants to kill you and you build card decks for various different characters (one at a time) to prevent that happening. Roguelike with three "acts" and bosses at the end of each one.
  • Slated for a March 2026 release date, but the devs have already delayed the game once. Won't be surprised if they do it again, as they've been getting less communicative with each monthly update.

  • The only decent-looking original Creature Collector coming out in 2026. I mean this both from a gameplay standpoint and from a visual standpoint.
  • Made by a team of former AAA devs best known for their previous work on Skylanders. This game is surprisingly similar-- from what I played of the demo, it comes from the same lineage of "shoot the shit out of big boss guys while exploring maps and finding collectibles" those games proliferated. Very much mindless fun.
    • Has a strategy aspect to it, in that you can influence your shooting and exploration through an extensive genetics system. Breeding and gene-shifting is a big part of the game, though I couldn't access much of it in the demo at all.
    • Devs are Quebecois, so be on guard for mistranslations in the script. The demo had quite a few of them.
  • Set in SPACE! You're an astronaut trying to save various alien species from going extinct. You do this by stealing their young, then raising their children to plunder worlds for more eggs. Also something something "removing corruption" something something earth might or might not have been destroyed. (Can't remember.)
  • Set for a Q1 2026 release date and the devs have been relatively communicative since their marketing period began. (There was a 3 year gap between the announcement of this game's existence and the first screenshots of it coming out.)

  • if this game actually comes out in 2026 I'll eat my shoe
  • Included here purely for meme purposes. This game has been in development hell for so long it's arguably outlived the culture that spawned it. For some perspective: Witchbrook was first unveiled in 2016. It did not have a proper store page until around a year ago.
  • I'm so morbidly curious about how this shitshow is going to turn out that I'm half-considering actually buying it. I'm not genuinely interested otherwise
  • we haven't had any actual gameplay screenshots or trailers in nearly ten fucking years how do you mess up that badly
  • anyways this is a cozy life sim from before that term even existed. It will have lots of browns and lots of cutesy graphics but probably revolve around boring chores and never dare to challenge you
  • Promises 4-player multiplayer, god knows if they'll be able to deliver
  • Being developed by both Chucklefish and Robotality (the Wargroove devs), but only published by the former
  • Slated for release in 2026 but lol lmao even I seriously doubt it'll happen
    • if it does it'll probably be in like December or maybe Autumn for Halloween synergy reasons
    • devs have been relatively communicative for the past few months but the gameplay is still mostly spoken of and not shown

Aside from everything listed above, I'm also looking forward to Tomodachi Life 2 on the Switch despite the inevitably terrible framerate. Pokémon's 30th anniversary stuff might also be funny to laugh at, but I have 0 faith in anything good coming out of that.

Última edición:
Sounds lame to say, but if the leaks are real, Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl 3 is genuine contender for 2026. Props to the team for fixing the shit roster from 2 and listening to feedback. Plus, it is good to see Timmy back in action.

Witchfire is likely going to leave early access in 2026. Don't know for certain but 2025 was a year of updating and finalizing systems and if the feedback I received from the developers some months ago still holds true, it'll be this year.
It's meant to be a chimera of first person extraction shooter, soulslike, and roguelite but I think it's become enough of its own thing to dump those shackles.
This game has flown under the radar and I really try and talk it up whenever I have the opportunity. We have a thread that I try and keep up to date.

Phantom Blade Zero is coming this year too. It will probably be crap like that Wu Chang Feathers game was but at least it looks better than that game did. Love me some chinkyslop.

Collapse of the games industry and the Chinese dumping their investments so that nerdy (and racist) Whites and Asians take back the industry.

right now it’s only Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave and possibly GTA VI (if it’s not delayed, and I hope it has more side content in singleplayer like Red Dead 2 did), I kind of feel the industry has moved towards fewer major single-player releases, i’m not the guy who declares “everything sucks the industry is doomed” but in this aspect I understand the sentiment, it’s annoying

Greedfall 2
Looks like Dragon Age Origins but in colonial times. Very interested on the switch from action to RTWP combat for the sequel.
Shocked they're making a second Greedfall every bit of response about it I've seen said its underwhelming. The idea of the world seems like it has potential at least.

It's a mix of people being upset about the combat change and that the first launch of early access was really bad. It's seems to be in a much better state now seeing the current reviews on steam are way higher then the all time ones.

Not a single solitary thing :)

I'll look RE9's way, but probably won't get it. The glories of emulation are just too good now. I still have to finish up FE5, I'm going to try Front Mission Gun Hazard, I want to play Deep Fear to see if it's as hilarious as it seems, I want to play through Metroid Prime 2 since Prime 4 shit the bed, Dragon's Crown looks good, and maybe I'll check out the Bloodborne PC project.

Modernity gaming can tongue my hairy asshole.

Nioh 3 and the new resident evil. I will wait to get them cheap, and I have plenty of old games to still work through. I am spoilt for choice with gaming, last year was great for me, and this year will be the same.
