Yes there were, they just weren't on discord yet. It was so bad that towards the end of DS1's life cycle, a guy named eur0pa made the pvp watchdog tool just so people could play in peace.
Yes, I specifically mentioned Discord for a reason.

DS1 had hacker problems, mainly of the "killing your NPCs" type, and of course the "getting cursed/eggheaded in the Burg" type, but it was not as easy to do as it later became.

What community stuff are we talking about here exactly?

Cursing/eggheading was all easy enough to do with technojacker's cheat table and everyone used that. You had people, a lot of them japanese and south american, who would perma curse your character which wasn't a huge deal as dsfix had an auto backup feature but it was still annoying. I remember one of them, guy would wear thorns armor and chester's top hat. That was his calling card.

You mean stuff like Soulbrandt, right?
They're just honorbro faggots. They weren't hackers.

Yes, the South Americans thinking they were hot shit because they used premade CE tables should generally be shot, but that's true of South Americans on the Internet in general. If memory serves, technojacker's thing took several months in PTDE's life to come out, and the flipside of the coin of it being widespread was you could use it to cure what it did, alongside dsfix backups.

I do not recall Japanese players doing it much in the Games for Windows Live days, though I do remember Soul Level draining only getting fixed when the Japanese started complaining.

Yes, I am aware. I am saying that there were no dataminer (or hacker) cliques at the time as Nameless One describes them, there were just a couple of people who you can count on one hand doing stuff. I am talking about a very specific thing.

Última edición:
Great Channel has videos covering other souls games, with him basically talking about the games' lore as he "plays" through them. It's highly edited but he covers relevant lore stuff or just things he finds interesting as he goes.

Fallen knight set is the best armor set

YT kept recommending me this Undead Asylum statue video, where a guy seen weird looking gargoyle statues for the first time and was losing his mind over it for some reason. Wondering why no one talks about this (who cares). His pfp seemed odd and I checked his profile proper.

Behold, modern DS1 lore fanbase:

TimeLierG apparently has a small mention here on KF, but it's nothing really special. Just funny to me how you can stumble into creatures like this by an accident.

Honestly those little shits have been an absolute blight on gaming since back in the days of Ultima Online. I religiously just flat out block them when I come across them on Console nowadays.
I'd give my left nut for the ability to just range block that entire part of the world.
What's really funny though is any game with range speak. You start being a shitter to them nonstop and you hear a room full of them monkey screeching the entire time.

I'm watching his DS2 video and it's hard to get through. He says he completed the game several times before, but he plays it like a tard, mispronounces a lot of names, steps into every trap/ambush and then soyfaces about it "THERE'S TWO OF THESE GUYS?!" "HE HITS FOUR TIMES?!". I don't think I'm the target audience for this.

The real breakthrough in completely shittifying the Dark Souls community was the PC port

The second one was the endless sperging over DS2

That guy swears up and down he does it to make From fix shit but I wouldn't buy it.
Hackers and cheaters always say this shit. It's just a way to cover your ass in an attempt to make yourself look like less of a cunt. Sure Timmy, you hacked the game and bricked people's saves because you wanted From to fix things. I believe it. Just like the people who found a way to AFK cheese invasions in Elden Ring were doing it to draw attention to the issue, not to profit off an exploit.

South Americans and the fucking Chinese. Between these two demos it's amazing online gaming isn't completely shit.
