Mexican restaurant in Chicago has a sign banning ICE from entering, and the ever-present "know your rights" section.
i do not fucking understand it. what rights does the constitution give anyone who's not a citizen? fucking none. i get no rights from any other country's constitution, and it pisses me the fuck off that all these spics come to our country, and think that just because we know how to treaet other high trust white people that they did ANYTHING to earn this treatment, when your very first interaction with my fucking nation is to break the law. fuck you, wetbacks. i really hope roberts' court grows a fucking spine and decides to allow the executive branch to actually do its fucking job.

In New York City news:
Lillian Bonsignore who Mamdani just appointed as FDNY commissioner basically admitted that she was a DEI hire because she’s lesbian.

This is from when she was celebrated as the first woman and first gay EMS Chief:“

“There are some young LGBTQ members that maybe don’t see this as a possibility for them and I want them to know that there’s nothing that can stop them from finding success.”

I look forward to this dyke being as successful at her role as the LA Fire dyke, hopefully with double the death toll and amount of the city being reduced to cinders.

Late but, regarding reasons for not being conscious, a repeated reason in that list is the inability to learn from experience, or learn even labeled data after training is complete... theres general problems thats specific to how training is done in an LLM now, but there are alternative architectures are around but are not used by tech giants as theyre unproven or not viable to train at scale yet. Particularly Id recommend reading about alternative learning architectures from the current meta, being back propagation, into something like forward forward; theres many variations of it but the idea is mostly the same. Its an architecture that does not require a backwards pass, and as a result do not require extra infrastructure at training time vs inference time. Additionally it can use constrastive methods to learn at inference time based on unlabeled data, so this can be used to "learn on the fly"

Statefulness is another thing that can be addressed in RNNs, which exist in LLM formats like RWKV, but need some adjustments to have a true state that can expand and collapse in scope in a structured way, so statefulness is definitely on the horizon...

The real issue is externalized knowledge lookup, the model cannot untagle syntactical knowledge from trivia or contextual knowledge, and so its not simple to develope a sort of lookup db that can be expanded on the fly... so I believe thats still the missing piece.

My 2 cents. conscious as you said is not well defined, but from my readings on it I can say that I believe in levels of consciousness, and that these components would bring it to a higher level of being than it is now.
The issue with any true AI is a complete lack of context for its data. The computer is hallucinating because it has no connection for its data.

LLMs still trip over what I call "the Hamburger problem". That is, humans an readily ID what a hamburger is. Machine intelligence needs an autistic exact definition of a hamburger and what isn't a hamburger and any ambiguity makes things fly off the fucking rails in short order.

This whole "anybody can enter except for this one element of law enforcement I happen to disagree with in particular" shtick is adorable. The notion you can just say "oh well I can deny service to anyone I want, so ICE can't come in!" to prevent law enforcement action is fucking retarded. They don't want service from your business. They're enforcing the law. You don't just get to say "nuh-uh, you're not allowed in here" and expect them to stay out when they've got probable cause and/or a search or arrest warrant to execute.

If only Al Capone had thought to just put up a sign saying "No IRS fags, lol" way back in the day, maybe he wouldn't have been taken down for tax evasion!

Though it would be funny if every gun shop and FFL in the nation put up signs to the effect of "ATF fuck off." Like in California where they enforce ridiculous and unconstitutional gun grabber laws. You can do that now, right? Just ignore laws you don't like and "ban" whoever tries to enforce it from your home and business? Seems to be the argument they're trying to make here.

I'm enjoying the special irony of people putting up signs to create rules they have no ability to enforce to keep people out, to protest the enforcement of actual rules that are supposed to keep people out. Its on the same level as a communist investment firm.

The constitution of Basedland gives me the right to enact TND and since apparently the US constitution applies to everyone on the planet so does Basedlands constitution.
