Things that make you think you might be autistic - For things that make you think you might be autistic

Inappropriate laughter at the worst times or when somebody is telling a story that should be sad. I know I should react in the proper way but either the intrusive thoughts win out or some wires get crossed and I sperg with a giggle instead of saying something better like "Oh no!"

Oh god, I'm guilty of this. I did this one when I was making a 911 call for someone, and I laughed inappropriately and the dispatcher asked me if I was pranking him.

I have a strict meal schedule I don't really deviate from. For example breakfast this morning was Chicken Parm with a side of Kimchi and sliced fruit and a Danish for dessert, which is every Tuesday morning's meal. I fact, now that I think about it, pretty much everything in my life is pretty regimented and scheduled out. It's not like deviating from things causes me distress, so long as I have some prior notice. Also rotate things every now and then so things don't get too monotonous, but yeah. My life is set out so I really don't have to make decisions unless its absolutely necessary.

Is that autistic or just OCD?

In high school I was voted 'most likely to lick a hole in the wall' and I don't like regime change in north african countries
What about other parts of Africa?

And yeah face blindness really sucks. The number of times someone who knows me has come up to me at a party and I've introduced them to the people I was talking to as a completely different person I mistook them for, or I've gone up and introduced myself to someone who already knew me, is too embarassing to recount. Especially if they're ethnic.

One of my favorite people on earth is getting a poop bag due to autistic food habits (textures, colors, avoidance, and even food touching, etc) and she ain't at poop bag age. My continuing interest in her is my own best evidence about my own autism.

I mean if I was, I figure it'd have been caught somehow in over a decade of schooling and overall social development, but no nothing

I'm a sensitive bitch (can't withstand loud things, freak the hell out when touched, etc. you know the deal) and incredibly introverted but that's still rather general

Also am permanently inflicted with the sort of speech impediment I've witnessed almost strictly in annoying autists ("autism accent" thereabout, not like monotonous but you can just tell okay)

I often don't notice or understand how people feel in a given moment, how I should act in a certain situation or when I do know I'm often unable to make it happen. I would also consider myself emotionally detached and unaffected by a lot of things other people get strong feelings about. Wouldn't say I'm cold-hearted though.

I have an adventurous spirit and through that I've been able to spend enough quality time with socially capable people to be able to observe and conciously learn how to act normally. I still experience weird episodes when I'm incapable of doing that, but they've become more infrequent.

tldr: I feel like my social development and key formative life experiences are all delayed 5+ years compared to my friends'.

Última edición:
When im driving and 300 metres ahead, theres a red light
so i just kept on my pace and relaxed driving
but my passenger be it family or friend act as if im in the wrong and should drive faster
despite... inevitably the same outcome will happen, i stop behind a car and wait for the light to turn green

the whole idea of futility seems lost on people around me

AM I AUTISTIC?!

I think this might be a cultural thing, everyone is so impatient and incredibly unperceptive while driving these days. The number of times someone will zip around or pass me on the road only to find ourselves side by side at a stop light is too many to count. Or they pass only to get trapped behind the slow moving car in front of me. I’ve started calling it the “Now What?” Moment. Like ok you got around me, now what?

I'm the same way, I had almost no emotional response to my mom getting cancer for example, it wasn't that I didn't care either because I very much wanted her to get better, I just couldn't muster up an outward reaction to what was happening.

I'm glad this thread exists because I have a genuine question. I saw a meme shared somewhere implying that "listening to the same song 200 times in a row" was an autism thing, and everyone seemed to agree (and this wasn't in one of those "tumblr self-diagnosed AuHD space" either).

That can't possibly be true, right? I mean, are there are really a lot of people out there who like a song and just listen to it once and then have a break until the next day? What's the point of liking a song if you don't listen to it 200 times in a row?

I think it's a thing with both spergs and people with ADHD, whenever I find a new video game music track I like, I'll listen to it for at least a month straight, and I'll also listen to it at a really high volume, which is also something that spergs like myself tend to do.

Consecutively is weird to me. I can listen to a song 20 times in one day but I gotta break it up with some different songs in the middle. It makes it more enjoyable and doesn't wear it out as quick.
Now I gotta post this

I’ve been on record going to bed at 5 A.M. for no reason at all, and usually it’s not because of me. It’s because of some other underlying factor that has nothing to do with looking at a screen at night.
