Things that make you think you might be autistic - For things that make you think you might be autistic

Inappropriate laughter at the worst times or when somebody is telling a story that should be sad. I know I should react in the proper way but either the intrusive thoughts win out or some wires get crossed and I sperg with a giggle instead of saying something better like "Oh no!"

I already have the diagnosis, but my stereotypical sperg tics should have gave it away long ago
(I refuse to call it stimming, it's an infantalizing term to me)

My mother wants to get me checked out for it but I think it's less autism and more just me being actually retarded (:_(

I see our tenant about every day on the stairs, for years. Sometimes we exchange some words. But when he met me outside the house, without his gf or dog and standing on the same level as me, I was like, who the hell is this guy and where he knows me from? Turned out I did not know him by face at all, but by who and where he is usually seen. Embarassing.
There's an actual psychological explanation for this, but I've also never been more validated in my life . I've had this same exact thing happen to me. Neighbor I see everyday made small talk with me at a bus stop and the whole time I was desperately trying to remember if I even knew them.
Similar thing has happened to me many times over the years. Turns out people do actually remember each other by faces and not just by vague contextual characteristics? Pretty wild stuff.

I also hate touching certain wet textures so I might really be accoustic.

Also, re: OP, you're fine, the guy at the counter was just braindead.

We stare at each other for a second and he just shakes his head.
I just wanted to buy eggs and somehow I’m the weird one for engaging in the social interaction and talking about eggs?
fyi this is the Zoomer gen's sense of humor. I've worked with a few of them now and they like to throw you off balance while playing it completely straight. It is funny, but if I had to guess why they do this specifically - I think it's because they had to repeat fake and gay globohomo shit with ferver and knew how fake and gay it was. So now they show off how sincere they can look while playing you for a fool. Real 'late '80s USSR' vibe.

To answer your question I know i'm adhd/mildy autistic but I've also changed a lot of dietary/lifestyle stuff to mitigate it - so now there's a tonne of social stuff I just never picked up on but am now realizing for the first time. Like, I have those 'allergic shiners' under my eyes (like Louis Rossman) but only recently discovered they were from an allergy. That no one ever asked me about them because they were being polite. And that when I told doctors I have no allergies and get a good sleep every night - they must've assumed I was lying to their faces and were just not calling me out on it because it's such a bald-faced lie that there was no point challenging it. Same with coworkers. Social skills are fun. It's the best game I've ever started playing.

I'm obsessed with retro gaming. I love games from the NES, SNES, N64, PS1, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Boy/Color/Advance, MSX, PC Engine, Neo Geo, Neo Geo Pocket/Color, WonderSwan/Color, etc.

Exactly. The classification of languages is something I feel may indicate that Im autistic.
What's wrong with that? It's a fascinating topic, you can see how languages spread worldwide grew and evolved from common sources based upon population movements and demographic changes.

Maybe you're just smart and like to learn for learning's sake.

My official diagnosis is ADD and I have a similar issue with faces. Meanwhile my dad is severely ADHD yet can recall the full name and profession of some guy he met once 30 years ago.

When im driving and 300 metres ahead, theres a red light
so i just kept on my pace and relaxed driving
but my passenger be it family or friend act as if im in the wrong and should drive faster
despite... inevitably the same outcome will happen, i stop behind a car and wait for the light to turn green

the whole idea of futility seems lost on people around me

AM I AUTISTIC?!

Is it autistic to zoom in on your guys in RTS games and just watch them fight? I used to do that all the time as a kid.
I still do. Crank those graphics up to max and watch those m1 garands go ping in coh3.

I've lived alone for several years and despite being constantly assured I ought to feel terribly lonely, I think it's great.
In another life, I would have been a lighthouse keeper.
I am definitely not autistic, I have a sibling who is so I have a decent comparison.
But I do have eccentricities and that fine. I can’t stand some textures - polyester, poly fleece, that sort of stuff in clothes, textured bedcovers, certain sounds and stimuli. Polyester or acrylic - It’s unbearable to touch. A lot of my peccadilloes are merely being grumpy, older and deciding that actually I don’t care much at all about the things society tells me I should care about, and I’m not very swayed by social approval.
It’s absolutely fine to be a bit weird and have oddnesses. It doesn’t mean you’re autistic or need a diagnosis slapped on you.
