Respectfully, that's just how criminal investigations and trials work, Even if they didn't have his confession or if it gets thrown out during trial, there are many other correlations of guilt they can use to prove he did it beyond reasonable doubt. That's all a jury is looking for, whether a person could reasonably doubt that he did it when considering the evidence presented in trial.
