Ten years ago, the Dakota Access Pipeline was attacked by Greenpeace-backed protestors who attacked workers and sabotaged the pipeline, causing $7.5 billion in damages. The company behind the pipeline, Energy Transfer, sued Greenpeace. Back in March 2025, a jury found Greenpeace liable and awarded $667 million. The judge subsequently reduced it to $345 million.
This is a fairly major problem for Greenpeace. As of 2023
their USA branch only has $4.3 million in assets, and as of 2024
the organization as a whole has only 90 million Euros in assets (or about $103 million). What's an eco-terrorist to do when faced with the consequences of their actions?
Why, flee to Holland and appeal to the Dutch courts! Greenpeace is a Dutch group, so they think the Dutch will protect them under Eurocuck law. Perhaps it will protect the wider organization as a whole, but the American branch is likely finished.
