Programmers are all awed by AI because they no longer have to look up reference documents or write functions or design systems or basically do their job.
I wonder how CompSci college professors can even grade quarterly projects anymore. They'd have to use AI to detect if their students' code was written by AI.

AI art is not only bad (terrible anatomy, wrong proportions), but it is soulless and, in many cases, has been totally controlled by coomers. I've attempted to use AI art generators to make avatars or silly pictures for posting on KF, only for it to automatically make something suggestive or straight up NSFW that I cannot use. That's because the coomers are all training these things for porn. AI is a useful tool, and some artists get smart by training an AI on their art, but the idea that it's going to replace real artists is as sanctimonious as the BlueSky whiners.
I'm not going to sit around and argue with a bot. I'd rather make shitty MS Paint drawings on my own with a mouse.

There are or will be services where you run the assignments through an analyzer that will help determine if it was written by AI but there are already services that allow you analyze programs for similarity that some schools have used for years. The analysis compares logic and loops, not the names of variables used, which would already catch most use of AI since it gives very similar results for the learning problems.

It would indicate the student can use an LLM to produce things, but it wouldn't indicate the student understood anything the LLM produced. "But does it matter how they made the thing if it works and is useful?" I dunno. That's the big question really in every field that AI touches. If you think it doesn't matter, then you should probably do what Null said and invest fully in AI going forward, because what else is going to matter if we just use AI to make everything?

I regularly change out my avatar and get seasonal AI generated ones but lately I've found it's really, really hard to get the prompts right to get what I want. Even something as simple as "a pug wearing mittens" ends up looking fucked up on Grok.
