Judging by his shirt, Gus's Dad probably works in retail as a storeman. The SDA is the union for retail workers in South Australia, but it's one of those unions that tends to be pretty cozy with big business, so it wouldn't surprise me if the major retailers are happy for the SDA to hand out hi-vis shirts as it's one less piece of uniform the retailer has to provide.

Either that, or someone gave that shirt to him for some unknown reason.

Most likely related to the NTX project (A), a high voltage transmission line running from Robertstown (about 130km / 80 miles north of Adelaide) to Whyalla, a steel town where the local mill is owned by a cash-strapped pajeet and was recently bailed out by the government (A). The proposed transmission line is shown in green. Maybe ElectraNet are offering to pay Tranpa for use of his land?

Looks like ElectraNet are pursuing the long way around because there's 9/10th of fuck all out there, and they probably had too much pushback from land owners and communities along their preferred route (in orange).

On the one hand, four-year-olds wander off. One of my brothers (autistic) decided he could just take a walk and go searching for dinosaur bones when he was that age.

However, there's a huge difference between how we handled it and how these Aussies did.

1. We didn't search for three hours before calling the cops. We gave him as little time as possible to get snatched by a bear, stuck in a culvert, drowned in a lake, etc.
2. We didn't chase people who were trying to help away.

This case seems just off, and the number of people insisting that focusing on tranpa takes away from finding out what really happened just oozes of deflection. What's more important: finding out what happened to the kid or protecting a trans person?

The sheer size of the sheep stations down there is mind boggling. This one is only a dozen square kms smaller than  greater Sydney.

The idea that a land owner could know where every rabbit warren looking mine shaft is located is hilarious. I grew up on mining country and people/horses/stock fall into them from time to time, open or not because the frames underneath have broken down and the ground is soft over the tunnels.

I don't think the kid left the property - you'd see the dust from a vehicle from quite a way off. Its how you know to put the scones on when guests are coming.

The time and resources going into this is interesting, it does feel like a no body no crime situation.

The closest one is 5km away though i think. So the likelihood of him wandering to one at nightful is dubious.

I assume theyre searching them simply to rule them out.

Just the preheat and bake part where I grew up (outta luck if you're unannounced) - you'd see the dust when a car turned off the main road and plonk them in the oven and whip some cream.

This place is way larger and flatter, and their roads look worse, so the whole lot might be possible. I wonder which grandma bakes.

It's a good idea in case that's where the family dumped the body. Unfortunately, these fuckers had potentially up to six months to pick the perfect location to dispose Gus in, so my hopes aren't high.

Aum Shinrikyo, the cult that did a terrorist attack with sarin gas on the Tokyo subway system, experimented with their product on one of these enormous sheep stations (Banjawarn Station which has about a million acres). All kinds of absolutely crazy shit goes down in those places.
 
Damn. I had seen this kid pop up on news sites since the disappearance and never looked into it. I always assume in these cases the kid is already raped and dismembered by the time their picture is on the milk cartons. This Gus looked especially likely to me as the vacant stare and long curly hair scream "I'm being molested". The details of this case just confirm it.

Very sad case, the SA police I assume are just waiting for the smoking gun they need to arrest tranpa and probably other family members. If they wanted to they could already lock the old fucker up for child neglect and endangerment just taking his bullshit alibi at face value. They want to see this pig go away for life.

As for Dad, he looks like a bit of a deadshit. I am assuming he didn't see Gus very much prior to the disappearance. I want to know more about Mum and Grandma. Am I right in saying Tranpa is not a blood relative? If he married into the family in the 90s, he is not Gus' biological pa, right?

If the history of SA police is anything to go by theyre not really in the business of finding lost or kidnapped kids, theyre more in the business of facilitating and covering shit up.

Dad has been in bands and is a tradie.

Tranpa ia biologically related. He's the mum's biological father.

SAPOL usually only sweep it up for elites. If Tranpa was old money living in Adelaide's Eastern suburbs, they sure as shit wouldn't have gone out this many times to try and find Gus' body.

If the Snowtown murders had been committed by associates of The Family instead of a bunch of Centrelink recipients in the Northern suburbs, they'd still be "unsolved" today.

I mean they kind of are. They ruled out foul play from the very get go. So now all theyre doing is fluffing about wasting resources.

Theyre even coming up with made up excuses covering up tranpa's behaviour with the shotgun.
