Aside the bow, if this violin is in any sort of decent condition, then a couple of hundred bucks is a real bargain, but I would guess that unless this was a inheritance from one of Bob or Barb's parents (unlikely) it's a cheap violin that was made for non-serious violin players and possibly bought by Borb because they hoped their son was an autistic music savant?
Barb bought it because it was at goodwill. That's all.

Airfix sets can demand a lot of money these days.

Fucking Hell Chris, you really are a bonehead if you didn't keep that safe.

If it isn't Legos, PS3 or anything else in his room, why the hell would be care about keeping them safe? That shit isn't his, it's Blarbs and/or his fathers. Most likely the models were Bobs which is why he is selling that stuff, daddy isn't there to tell him not to so he can pocket the money for more important stuff like his need for expensive Lego sets.

And let's not be surprised about the asking price for these things, remember the Super Bowl Sunday TV Chris tried to sell on craigslist for like $250 or something? Chris is only interested in getting top dollar for crap. Prices are NON-NEGOTIABLE!

Bob playing the violin all alone in the greenhouse, trying to remember the days before Charb.

(:_(

I know haturbating on Chris and Barb is fun, but there's a chance that Bob played the violin given how much he loved music.
Oh, I hadn't thought about that. Yes, I can definitely see that happening... The fact that Chris has never said anything about Bob playing the violin makes me think that he stopped because Barb didn't like the music or something. Some wives/girlfriends are real bitches who make their boyfriends/husbands stop productive hobbies for whatever selfish reason.

Or he kept playing this.

God damn, look at the water damage! Chris actually thinks he can pass that shit off as "new"?

That is neither new nor mint.

I had an email exchange with Chris about one of these models. I tried to buy one of them from him by talking him down to a reasonable price, trolling/ween-free. The conversation went exactly as you'd expect, but here it is anyway, poor spelling and grammar intact:

Me: There is a price label on the box that says $17.99, why are you trying to
sell it for $50? I will only pay what the box says and that is 17.99.
What did you do to it to make it more valuable? The water damage makes it
look less valuable.

Chris: The model kit is over 30 years old; the box is big; the kit would be
considered rare and hard to find; the kit is no longer in production; my
mother and I are just greeting by and we need the money there that's for
sure. So buy it or leave it.

Me: I will buy this from you for 17.99 plus your shipping costs. If you are
willing to sell it at this very reasonable price, then we have a deal.

Chris: 25 plus S&H or bust; take it or Troll Off somewhere else.

Don't know if the conversation is still open, but you could point out that the box itself is damaged and water probably leaked within the box, damaging its contents and making it worth even less than 17.99.

That is neither new nor mint.

And Chris isn't a world-famous cartoonist with a billion fans and a dashingly handsome bodybuilder who can woo Vanessa Hudgens over an AIM chat.

Yup Bob played the devil and lost his curse? A hoarder wife, and manchild

The Devil made a detour to Ruckersville on his way down to Georgia.

Right, and while you're at it, maybe you can explain to Chris that current social norms dictate that 32-year-old men are typically expected to buy their own $300 Lego sets.

No, the conversation is no longer open. However, I'd like to point out that you are asking me to highlight subtleties for Chris that he will never fucking understand. You read the man's words. These things are over 30 years old and hard to find. Obviously that equals $$$. Of course, so would 80s breakdancing pencils, going by this same "logic".

The chandlers have a smorgasburg of collectibles worth millions! Duped Dahli paintings, water damages antiqued collectibles, rare run of the mill porn, they are sitting on a gold mine. We can do it my fellow Christorians, we can pull off an ocean 11 hiest and take it all

He'd probably be selling those on eBay too if Barb would let him raid the hoard for stuck to hock. Luckily she doesn't seem to give a shit what happens to her late husband's prized belongings. Coming soon to an eBay auction near you: moldy, warped jazz records: $50 a piece.

Models typically have a terrible resale value. Most of them are going to depreciate as soon as you take them home, whether or not you open them or not. They're a very niche market and and nobody in their right mind is going to pay nearly full price for a water-soaked, stepped-on, smoke-damaged model of a World War II fighter plane when they can go down to Michael's and get nearly the exact same thing brand new.

As with many things, this is sometimes true, it is not always true. Many models do appreciate, others do not.

I imagine Chris' will not, given the damages sustained as you listed and for the reasons I indicated previously.

You know, if that B-17 model was in good shape, it might be worth $50.

Probably not so much after it's been exposed to heat, water, soot, and Chandler cooties.

I paid about $450 for a new violin six years ago. And yes, it too is a Stradivarius copy.

I don't know, $200 might be a good price if it's in decent condition.

I like the idea of Bob playing violin, it may have been one of his few pleasures before he took a turn for the worse.

Moldy, warped jazz records? MOLDY!! WARPY!!
