May 2014 Ebay stuff: Plane Models and violin rescued from the hoard?

Chris said in the Jackie emails that "my father once showed me his trumpet", which implies they have a trumpet(s). As a trumpet player, if the trumpet made it out of the fire and the hoard relatively unscathed and if it looks decent, I would actually maybe consider picking it up for a couple hundred bucks or maybe even a thousand. Or I would forward it to a friend who is looking for a new trumpet. Given Bob's age, the trumpet would likely be hand-made, which would be pretty damn awesome - you know, assuming it survived the hoard and the fire with no injuries.

Hell, you could probably sell the headstone off Bob's grave without much protest from Barb. You just leave her velvet paintings, cracked snow globes, and lawn gnomes the fuck alone.
The sad part is Chris would probably be willing to go along with--perhaps even initiate--this sort of idea for the sake of video games. Even if it was for a worthy cause such as paying bills or reducing debt that sort of idea would be beyond taboo for most anyone.

With the Chandlers though, I cannot say that they would reject such an idea with as much confidence as I could usually.

This implies that Chris is capable of going against Barb's wishes in the first place. I think you'd really have to push him to the brink to get him to stand his own against Mommy, and if his total lack of any public observance of the anniversaries of his father's passing is any indication, the memory of Bob is not a line in the sand for him. Not remotely.

guys I just realized that since the fire Chris can no longer say his items come from a smoke-free home!!!!

I'm chuckling at the note on the violin listing that he'll have the bow re-strung before he ships it to the buyer. Wonder if he'd actually get off his ass and get it done in a timely manner, or if the buyer would have to keep nagging him and get a bunch of whiny "I'M WORKIN' ON IT!" responses. How much would that cost, anyway?

My understanding is that unassembled models actually are collectible if they are old enough and from the right manufacturers.

That is in an waterlogged state of course...
I could sperg about this a lot, but instead I'm simply going to confirm that yes, in some cases model kits do appreciate quite a bit. Don't know if that's the case with the kits Chris is selling, though.

He's really, really paranoid about trolls. To Christorians it's understandable, but I wonder how you'd react to them if you were unaware of the whole phenomenon.
Yeah, seriously. Chris is being a huge dickhead. Troll or not, the price is on the fucking box, the buyer isn't pulling it out of his ass.

Heh, or rather, Chris is using troll as a verb here. So maybe trolling is Chris' word for "myehhh, being mean to me!!!"

I hadn't thought about that trumpet being handmade. I've been playing since 6th grade and most of my friends are classical or jazz musicians. That depresses the hell out of me.

It's entirely possible that Chris thinks trolls will actually pay a lot of money for shit he's owned since Clyde bought some of his Vidya from the pawn shop. Remember that Chris is the master of mind games.

I've always wondered something about Chris and Barbs relationship. Is Chris actually afraid of Barb and that's why he can't stand up to her? Like he's worried she'll yell at him and he can't think of anything worse. Or Chris just so use to Barb bossing him around that at this point he sees it as just normal? Could Barb outright insult Chris and tell him he's useless and Chris would just be none the wiser and say "mmm yeah. My Mommie loves me"..?
I guess what I'm trying to ask:
Is Chris afraid to stand up for himself or does it not occur to him that he could stand up for himself?

The descriptions are the best.
Buy It Now for 300 plus Shipping, and I will have the bow restrung. It will take a while longer, but I promise to keep you up-to-date with the progress.
So for 100 bucks I can get the bow restrung (or as google said, rehaired). According to the internet I can get it done for as little as 30.

New and Mint in Sealed Plastic.
Are we even gonna mention it looked like it was stepped on?

Second part, my response to ToroidalBoat Chris can't stand up to her because he's afraid of her, because he's afraid of her threats (kicking him out and changing the locks) and maybe she might try crying or something, but I don't know about that. He mostly just complies because she's not asking for much, usually, and it's easier for him.

Also, there's not much he wants that he needs to stand up to Barb for. Barb's not doing that much to him, it's the trolls and girls who won't talk to him.

I wonder if Chris ever gets tired of being a stupid fucking asshole 24/7. Or is the blessing of being a stupid fucking asshole that you don't realize you're a stupid fucking asshole?

I really hope the violin is in good condition and it's the one item he sells for waaaay under it's value. I just like idea of Chris trying to overcharge for his plastic toys and porn, only to look at a violin and think "hmm, dis ain't no transformer but meh-mehbe it'll do"

That for $50? That's about the price of some business shirts or business suits if I remember correctly.
