Monthly Census/HUD data. The trick is that the monthly data is very noisy, so it's easy to pick a certain time frame that shows what you want. In August it was the other way around, with 2025 prices being higher than 2024 prices. Long story short, monthly data is too noisy to be useful.
However, there's a longer term trend towards rising supply and fewer homes being sold, so the new build market appears to be slowing down. That's typically not a good sign for the economy.

I remember during Covid lockdowns, there were children who relied on school lunches to get regular meals who got screwed.
It's not just children, but disabled adults too.

This is a slight powerlevel (whatever) but I have had moments where I would start running out of food and I had to ration meals in order to eat because I didn't have enough money to buy food.

It happens. People just aren't public about it. Especially families and people below the poverty line. Since grocery store food is ridiculously expensive, it will happen more.
