September 30 update (archive)
Hey! Got a pretty big update for you today! Lots of new voice lines and animations! The majority of the new content in this build is related to Amai, but there’s also some pretty cool additions that are unrelated to Amai, as well.

To see a list of everything that was added/changed/fixed/improved, scroll down past this super cool illustration by Kittysku_櫻!

Voice Acting for Amai

Some parts of Amai’s week now have voice acting!

Those parts are:

  • Her Monday Morning conversation with Senpai
  • Her Monday Morning phone call with her mom
  • Reacting to a note in her locker
  • Her Task
(A lot of other Amai voice lines have been recorded, as well, but haven’t been added to the game yet.)

Also, Amai’s Monday Morning events – interacting with Senpai and having a phone call with her mom – now feature unique animations! The interaction with Senpai is only 62 seconds long, but the phone call with her mom is 1 minute and 47 seconds – wow!

(Technically, there is voice acting for Amai’s mother, as well. Her voice deliberately sounds muffled, since her lines were primarily only recorded so the animator would have some timing to animate to…but, it’s still there!)

Voice Acting for Shoku and Ajia

Because Shoku’s Task is directly linked to one of Amai’s elimination methods, I felt that Amai’s week would not be truly “complete” until Shoku’s Task had voice lines…so, in this build, I’ve added voice lines for Shoku’s Task!

Also – because Shoku’s Task involves befriending every member of the Cooking Club, I feel that it’s equally important to make sure that everyone else in the club also has voice lines for their Task. The next character I gave voice lines to was Ajia:

Saki’s Task already has a voice, so now I just need to find voices for Kenko and Seiyo, and then the whole club will be fully voiced!

Voice Acting for Ayano

Choosing an actress to voice the game’s protagonist is a big deal, so I decided to give the voice actress a “test task” before officially casting her as Ayano. The test: To provide voice lines for all 16 of Ayano’s lines of dialogue in the cutscene where the Basu Sisters confront Ayano in the cave underneath the cherry tree.

I’m pleased with how the voice acting turned out! Now that we’ve gotten past this “screening” phase, I’ll begin to request more Ayano voice lines from this actress!

Voice Acting for Musume

By the way – Musume’s Task now has voice acting, too!

Voice Acting for Osana

Bet you didn’t expect this one!

Years ago, Osana’s voice actress recorded lines for “Osana checks her locker and finds a note,” and I simply forgot to implement them. Oops! Well, while I was implementing Amai’s locker-related lines, I discovered the Osana ones, so I’ve finally implemented them into the game!

New 1980s Mode Tutorial Animations

In the 1980s Mode Tutorial, the sequence where Ryoba talks to Sumire now has animations! That’s right – instead of just standing there like statues and communicating telepathically, now the characters actually move around and have lip-sync!

I’m very happy with how it turned out!

New Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki Transformation Cutscene

Alright, now that I’ve shown you plenty of progress related to the “main game”, I think it’s safe to show you a “just for fun” addition that was made recently…

The original Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki transformation cutscene looked like this:

It was pretty much a 1-to-1 re-creation of this cutscene from Silent Hill 3:

After a new animator joined the game’s development team, I made a list of every animation I wanted him to create for the game. Some of the animations on this list were essential to adding new features to the game (for example, I can’t add a “smother sleeping student with pillow” feature to the game without having an animation for it), but towards the bottom of the list, I added a few low-priority animations that I wanted to request purely because I wanted to replace old and low-quality animations from many years ago. Such as, for example…the Miyuki transformation animation.

During a brief window of time when there were no high-priority animation tasks to work on, and the voice actors hadn’t delivered their lines yet, my animator took the time to work on one of the low-priority animations. The result? One of the most impressive and high-quality animations in the entire game!

From now on, activating the Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki easter egg will display this animation:

Damn!!!!! He went HARD with this animation!!! I’m absolutely delighted with it; it’s probably the best-looking cutscene in the entire game!! I’m so lucky to have this guy on the development team!

Changes/Improvements/Replacements

  • The bullies’ wrist accessories have been replaced with new models that are more accurate to what they wear on their wrists in their official artwork.
  • The postcard that Ichiko sends to Ryoba now has human-made art instead of an AI-generated image.
  • Replaced the 3D model for the black-and-red outfit featured in the “Death Demon” easter egg.
  • Replaced all of the student council’s hair models and stocking textures.
  • Replaced the Yakuza’s hair model with a new one.
  • Beruma now has hair physics.

Fixes

  • If the player stood at Amai’s Bake Sale and watched students eat there, the bake sale would proceed without a problem. However, if the player looked away from the bake sale, the game would not bother to play animations on the characters at the bake sale (because they weren’t visible) so the bake sale would not be able to run certain code that checks for animations playing. The result is that students would gather at the bake sale, but not eat anything, even if the player was looking at them. This bug has been fixed.
  • When the player confirms their decision to begin a Mission Mode mission, the game freezes for a moment while it prepares a mission. I created a “Preparing Mission…” loading screen so that the player doesn’t get confused and think that the game has frozen. However, this loading screen was not appearing for “Multi Mission” missions. This bug has been fixed.
  • Sometimes, when sparring with a female opponent in the Martial Arts Club, the opponent would walk away in the middle of the sparring match or speak with a male voice. I’ve attempted to fix this bug. I can’t get the bug to happen anymore, but the bug was always inconsistent to begin with, so I don’t know whether or not it’s truly fixed.
  • At the beginning of a Mission Mode mission, the camera starts out in the sky and then drifts down to take its place behind the protagonist. Due to a bug, the camera was not sliding down to the correct location, causing it to “snap forward” once gameplay began. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player was having a conversation with Raibaru at the moment that a robot killed Osana, Raibaru would stop talking to the player and walk over to Osana, but not react to her death, and the game would softlock. This bug has been fixed.
  • In 1980s Mode Mission Mode, if the player played a mission where they were required to dispose of their victim using the vat of acid, the game would not properly recognize when the victim had been eliminated. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player used the “Skip” feature to skip through the Yakuza’s dialogue while Ryoba was off-screen, there was a chance that Ryoba’s hair would get permanently disabled and never re-enabled. This bug should be fixed now.
  • In the west zen garden at school, the particle emitters that emit a “falling leaves” particle effect were misplaced, resulting from the leaves spawning out of the sky rather than out of trees. This bug has been fixed.
  • If a Vtuber Mode was activated, and the player used the “Change Appearance” feature to customize the protagonist’s hairstyle, two hairstyles would be active at once on the protagonist’s head. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, it was possible to kill your Senpai via suffocation if you gave him a schedule that involved him sleeping in the school infirmary. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the user somehow find a way to precariously balance a bucket on top of a mop, and then removed the mop, the bucket would float in midair. This bug has been fixed.
  • Due to a bug, Amai would sometimes not recognize that Ayano was standing right in front of her, eavesdropping on a private conversation. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player gave Info-chan a stolen phone, she would speak an old, outdated voice line instead of speaking the latest one. This bug has been fixed.
  • In the “Amai wakes up tied to a chair” cutscene, Osana’s hair model was appearing on Amai’s head. This bug has been fixed.
  • Due to a bug, Info-chan’s response to the player exiting the Mission Mode menu was incorrect. This bug has been fixed.

What’s Next?

There could have been a lot more voice lines added in this update…but, at the last minute, I decided that I wasn’t satisfied with some of my writing, and re-wrote a few lines of dialogue. This meant that some lines will have to be re-recorded – and the voice actors haven’t finished recording them yet. I’m sorry for reducing the amount of content in this build, but I really wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the dialogue before it became a permanent addition to the game.

On the bright side…if the voice actors continue to record lines at their current pace, then all voice lines necessary for Amai’s week will be recorded by the end of October!

There are certain voice lines that I can drop into the game immediately, as soon as I receive them – such as “Amai reacting to being splashed with gasoline” – but, in other cases, voice lines won’t be added to the game until after an accompanying animation has been created – such as “Senpai arrives at Amai’s bake sale and eats her food.”

It’s a bit too early to know how long it will take for all animations to be finished. But, In the meantime, while I’m waiting for those assets to come in, I’ll continue to make various improvements to every area of the game. (Actually, I have a tradition of releasing a horror-themed minigame every year on Halloween…so, once all higher priorities are taken care of, I might set aside a bit of time to develop the annual horror minigame while waiting for last remaining animations to roll in…)

Thank you for following the development of Yandere Simulator!

Not sure if anyone ever mentioned this (even if the thread is past its prime) but I once heard of this and nobody ever brought it up again (no matter what documentary it was) - the panties on student models appear separately when you set the camera to noclip into them with the censored mode turned on.

Either the censorship is done is a retarded way, or (more likely) Alex added them manually to models when he first stole the assets. Given his rep, I wouldn't be surprised if it was added just to beat off to it. Explains his insistence to keep it, or if it's option A - that he's a moron.
:coom:

Gentlemen, Alex added a new self-instert of his to the characters website. He's even said to have been ungrateful to his parents.

Bold of you to assume that Alex would've called himself lazy or deadbeat. I mean, just read this shit.

Daigo was born to a kind mother and a devoted father who went to great lengths to provide him with a comfortable life. Unfortunately, he did not appreciate the warm and loving home that his parents tried to provide him with; he felt suffocated by his doting mother and his father's persistent attempts to bond with him. Perhaps because they tried so hard to be part of his life, he wanted nothing to do with them; he grew up to be a rebellious young man who defied authority figures at every opportunity, and by the time he reached his teenage years, he was a juvenile delinquent.

In a twist of fate, Daigo had a highly specific experience in his teenage years that mirrored his father's life almost perfectly: in high school, he fell in love with a beautiful young woman who motivated him to abandon the delinquent lifestyle and take life more seriously so that he could start a family with her. It was an eerie coincidence - but it did not bring him closer to his dad. On the contrary, he hated his own father so much that, when he married his high school sweetheart, he took her last name, just to have one less connection to his parents.

A series of tragedies struck in rapid succession. Just as he was beginning to realize how ungrateful of a son he had been, his mother died, forever robbing him of the opportunity to establish a meaningful bond with her. One year later, just as Daigo had nearly gathered up the courage to reach out to his estranged father and attempt to repair their damaged relationship, his father died at his workplace, leaving Daigo's carefully rehearsed apologies forever left unsaid.

But, the worst event of his life came at the moment that was supposed to be the happiest: his wife died almost immediately after giving birth due to severe and unexpected medical complications. This was what truly broke him; after such an experience, he would have simply taken his own life, if not for one thing: before she died, his wife's final words to him were, "Take care of our daughter." Despite how badly he wanted to die, Daigo forced himself to stay alive to honor his wife's dying wish.

However, no matter how hard he tried, he was incapable of loving his daughter. Whenever he looked at her, he could only have one thought: "You killed her. She's dead because of you." Instead of perceiving his daughter as "the only piece of my wife that still exists in this world," he could only see a giant gaping void where his wife was supposed to be.

Daigo's father had worked in a high-risk occupation, and had prepared a will before his death. Despite their stained relationship, Daigo's father still wanted to leave his earthly possessions to his son - and, because he had been extremely well-paid by his employers, this meant that Daigo inherited a substantial sum of money. He used his father's fortune to distract himself from his regrets and his sorrow, and spent his days enjoying expensive hobbies and eating lavishly.

With such wealth, Daigo became addicted to a life of excess, and saw no reason to pursue employment. However, 10 years after the birth of his daughter, his father's money finally ran out. Because of his laziness, his lack of work experience, and his extremely negative attitude, it was very difficult for him to find gainful employment; he was only ever able to find part-time jobs that paid very little money - and what money he did earn, he quickly spent on alcohol. As a result, a man who once lived like a king fell into poverty.

But, whether he was rich or poor, one aspect of his life remained constant - the presence of his daughter. No matter how many years passed, he still felt consumed with pain and disgust whenever he looked at her. When he became angry or frustrated, he would often take it out on her. "Remember - you killed your mother! You've been a disgrace since the moment you were born!" His abuse was not only verbal, but physical, too; he struck her numerous times throughout her childhood, once slashing her across the face twice with a broken beer bottle, resulting in a permanent scar.

Other children would often mock her for constantly being covered in bandages and bruises, which made it difficult for her to make friends. This led to bullying, which led to fights, which gradually turned her into a person more experienced in fisticuffs than socializing. She developed into a girl who rarely spoke, stayed away from others, and strived to be as intimidating and imposing as possible to prevent anyone from seeing her as an easy target.

Because of these traits, she often got into trouble at school, which only gave her father more reasons to yell at her. She heard the same words from him countless times - "useless," "worthless," - she was frequently told that she had no value, and that her life would never amount to anything.

These words hurt her deeply - but, over time, that pain transformed into something else - motivation. A desire to prove her father wrong. A desire to make something of herself; to become so successful that her father would have no choice but to look at her and realize that, against all odds, she had become someone successful; respectable; someone who he simply could not insult. "I'll become stronger than him. I'll graduate from a better school than him. And unlike him, I won't inherit money - I'll earn it through hard work."

The moment that she reached the legal working age - 15 - she immediately began to work two part-time jobs. When she wasn't working, she was either studying or developing her muscles - one would make it easier to get into the school she was aiming for, and the other would make it harder for her father to raise a hand against her.

Finally, the day came; after two years of toil, she had finally saved up enough money to afford the tuition fee for the prestigious school that her grandfather had once attended. Confident that she had studied hard enough, she stepped through the gates of Akademi, and began the notoriously difficult entrance exam, determined to prove that she belonged there.

Alex, there are other plot devices than death and rape, you know. It is extremely lazy. Why in the fuck his daughter says "IMMA WONT INHERIT MONEY LIKE HIM" if you already established that he wasted all of it and has fuck all? Why in the fuck would she need Kakodemi if she is 18 and can either get into real university or get a full time job instead of larping as a student? Also why in the fuck would she work at all while being a delinquent, if she can just get money through crime which fits the mob boss character more?
It is beaten to death that Alex has no idea how people interact, but how in the fuck you can write for over a decade and only get worse at it?

I decided to take a look who is drawing for Alex now and this is just sad.
1759994841174.png

Yep, they/them created this page just so Alex had something to link on his dead website. Also, "busy college student"? WTF Alex, you decided to deal with someone above 18 this time?

Also, if that indeed was Alex, he wouldn't have muscles, wouldn't drink and look something like this. Yes, it is AI slop, I am too lazy right now
true copy.webp

Bold of you to assume that Alex would've called himself lazy or deadbeat. I mean, just read this shit.
Worry not, I read the whole lore before posting this. If I see lazy fat fuck I will cal him Alex. All comedic exaggeration.

Probably because Alex needs a convenient scenario where every rival enters the school week after week. Is it not at least a bit retarded to anyone else? Not even one week with two+ rivals at once?

Did I miss when Mulberry quit? Or does he just alternate between artists? I'd be surprised if it actually happened. That's one of his most loyal NPCs.

Wait, you don't know that Alex left hints that Akademi is actually some sort of LARP camp for 18+ year olds?

They still do, at least as of 2020 he was still living at this address, which I assume he has not moved from.

House
Source-Trade Mark Application for YanSim EDIT: I fucked up the link like an idiot
I don't remember if this is the same house. I do remember though that they put their house on sale a decade ago and then Alex mentioned in a 4chan thread how he has to help his parents move and moved out himself.

This new character made me think though. What is a-logging? Basically someone expressively ridiculing someone for the flaws he himself has in order to boost his ego or hide those shortcomings. What if by writing this bio Alex a-logs himself? I saw people projecting their flaws on someone else, but onto their OC DO NOT STEAL? That's gotta be first.

I can't say for sure that this is the same house, I'd have to dig a little, but it seeing it was bought in around 2013 and the phone number listed is his current one, that leads me to believe it's right? Again, I'll look into it.

EDIT: The house listing mentions a guest house, I wouldn't be surprised if that's where he lives. His parents are loaded, it's a shame they have to support their bum child.

Wouldn't be the first... First it was the nerd guy, then the cat killer and now the fat fuck LOL.

Yandere Simulator is basically a fanfic.

I remember that somewhat. Point is, there is never an instance of two rivals coexisting (leaving Oka out until her week for example).
That's because he made the mistake of introducing all the rivals and their order before the first rival was fully implemented. If he included every rival now, people would just try to kill them all in Week 1.

Okay, so apparently
Long story short, the new Taro VA has been doxed, it's all pretty dramatic

The thing is that the dude can't shut up about it. He is like - "hmmm nghhh I am not a part of the community anymore I have a child, guys, a CHILD!" - and then lurks around r/Osana and other YS threads I just dk. It's like the Jellyfish situation once again

I just wonder where Alex stands in it. Like...does he provide some kind of idk, comfort and empathy or he is just like "hurp a durp, I have nothing to do with this"

And it sucks because that'd actually be a fun thing to do. Alex's eternal insistence on removing emergent gameplay to prevent players from doing the 'wrong' thing and avoiding his meticulously routed wiki articles will never not piss me off. It can be argued that there's a fine line between emergent gameplay and complete mechanical collapse, but I would argue that you should err on the side of allowing things, less your game become a checklist. If its possible to break a game with deliberate action, players can chose to not do so. If its impossible to do anything other than the checklist, players will inevitably bore of doing so.

This is an archival site, make the short story long please, I have no clue what you're going on about or what exactly you're trying to describe in this VA's behavior. If Alex is now tangentally inducing crashouts in other people, they at least deserve a post in his thread. A year from now, this may be incredibly relevant information.

You know exactly what to do with this info.

apparently, someone's Yandere Simulator game is done. I wonder if Alex is going apeshit?

https://youtube.com/watch?v=YZhhPFoj5b4
Hate to say it, but I can hardly call it a game. It's just an asset flip where you can run around. Somewhat like first versions of YS.

I actually was hoping to get more clarity on this site tbh because it's just the way I feel about the situation, like I'm getting some kind of bad vibes from the dude in question. But maybe I am wrong? Who knows

So basically, the new YS build had a new VA for Taro. He doesn't even sound like the previous one, more like Alex in disguise (not him, unfortunately, because it would be funny). So, few weeks later and boom, the whole Reddit is buzzing about how the guy was doxxed and now he is leaving YS community because he doesn't feel safe or smth like that.

The reddit post about him quitting
His quitting video

When asked why was he volunteering for Alex in the first place, his answer was always smth like - "oh, my son likes the game, and I didn't know anything about Alex", that usual stuff.

Now he is lurking the depths of r/Osana and r/Ryoba or whatever they called, participating in every discussion that somewhat touches him or not
Examples are too many to count
Here
Here
Here

And so on. Also, there is a fake doxxer, apparently, who's been claiming Jaron (the VA) is a pedo, but there are no evidences of that.

Maybe I am confused and shitty myself, but hmm.
