So after doing jack shit for a year because of "muh election", only doing six episodes per season after that and putting off their last episode by a week due to the whole Kirk thing, they're taking another two weeks break? these guys are lazy fucks lmao.

I have a feeling that the reason there's a 2-3 week delay is because they have to wait for Trump to do something stupid to do an episode on. You can tell when there's weeks where Trump doesn't do much that the jokes are repeated ones like "He's fucking Satan". I just want to know why they did a 180 on this whole thing. From the way the interview sounded, it felt like they were straight up tired with politics and wanted a season where they would have created original and simple stories regardless of who won. Why do this 180 when you knew there was a chance that Trump would win? Why even bother delaying the season then?

Maybe it's because their last spit of edginess is because of complacency and laziness so they "want to fuck with Paramount" but only because it gives them a reason to not do shit for the money.

TDS has a built in audience. I wouldn't be surprised if they're adding in all the orange man content as a precaution to ensure there's a safe floor to their ratings. I doubt Paramount particularly minds the nature of their content so long as the numbers are there.

Rumor has it the ever increasing gap between episodes is due to Comedy Central having to run damage control since Skydance and Trey/Matt despise each other, especially after Charlie Kirk's death and Comedy Central having to start doing their job and be more hands on with tard wrangling and increasingly TDS belligerent Trey/Matt, since Skydance told them to either tard wrangle tilge two or be fired and replaced with people that will pull the trigger to John K both men.
Also in other news, You're Getting Older and Assburgers have fallen victim to the same a the same shit as Hooked On Monkey Phoenix. They've wholesale smothered both of the episodes usage of Landslide to the point of being barely able to hear it.

I think the saddest part about this season to me is that with the full endorsement of TDS, Matt and Trey have essentially confirmed that they're done writing good stories.
I can't think of many if any shows/creators that went full TDS and actually found their way back to being truly entertaining.
We've seen it many times, once a show becomes about "Orange man bad" it's basically a sign that the only thing the creators care about now is partisan politics, and they are going to make sure you know it.

It depends on the reason for the shift. The reason for that correlation, in my experience, is that shows pivot to TDS because the writers have run out of ideas and their ratings are suffering as a result, so they turn to politics as a means to shore up their relevance. If Matt and Trey really do have stories they still want to tell like they said in that interview then all they'd really have to do is make a few episodes making fun of Democrats/PC/leftists in general so they can go back to being the people who make fun of everyone. That'll give them their out to leave politics behind.
Of course, this is all assuming they aren't responding to some sort of external pressure to be "topical". If they are then they're probably going to be stuck doing orange man jokes for the foreseeable future.

It does but it's not nearly enough either in absolute terms or key demographic terms to sustain anything with aspirations above niche beyond the immediate short term. The limited extent of that audience together with it's tendency to repel the mainstream audience is why, whether it's films, TV shows, news or anything else, the recurrent theme is failure despite having all the benefits including easy access to the entirety of the audience and near complete support from mainstream (legacy) media.

Honestly apart from Trump, does anyone else feel like they aren't going as hard on other things as the left would like them to? Key examples are ICE where apart from making fun of the one lady, they didn't go as hard on ICE as the left would have liked them to. Talking about comparing them to nazis or having a group of illegals resisting them by beating the crap out of ICE agents. Another example is Elon where the ketamine plot with Randy was obvious referencing him. It didn't feel like they were making fun of Elon. All I saw was Randy getting high off of a new drug. Last example is Charlie Kirk where even leftists stated that they didn't really go hard on him. Many of them were hoping that Wendy or Kyle would have destroyed Cartman Kirk in a debate but that never happened. Unless it was for a later episode but there was nothing suggesting that. People are acting like many will look back at this season and go "Wow, they really opened my eyes to Charlie Kirk being a horrible person" but really, even if he was never killed, people will see leftists seething over him embracing his episode than changing their minds about Kirk.

I suspect the initial plan for this season was to go a lot harder against Elon, Trump, Noem, ect up to and including portrayals of violence but after Kirk's assassination Paramount told them no and they had to hastily cut scenes and rewrite the remaining episodes.
