Ask your PCP or surgeon if smaller procedures can be done without general anesthesia. Some people don't like the sensations or are squeamish but anesthesia fucks you up top to bottom. This isn't a bad thing when its major surgery but try and do local with a xanax or twilight for smaller procedures like heart IV catheters or carpel tunnel surgery.
