It was done by the same guy who did the "remake" of Ted's Caving Journal, which I thought was one of the better found footage series lately. Though that may be my nostalgia talking from 24 year old memories.

I agree the acting in this one is pretty hit or miss though

For me it's this, because it interconnects a lot of the older videos. The woman who runs the 'NEET agency' in NO FICTION is one of the people here along with the clothing of the NEET woman being handed to the cameraman before he enters the house, and it mirrors the issues in THE VISIT where they aren't meant to be filming.

Cameras in general seem to be pretty key to what's going on. Aside from the usual Japanese spirit photography shenanigans, HELTER SKELTER showed that cameras can transcend spiritual barriers/planes with how the exorcist was able to take the cameraman's camera out while leaving the cameraman as a sacrifice in the alternate world.

i really like how mysterious everything is, i have never seen anyone do it like this before, its not an ARG, you can't piece togheter what is happening from the info given, you need to speculate, some of the most confusing and cryptic episodes are also the longest ones (like film inferno for example)

It's nice knowing they take their time with stuff, they're comfortable taking six months off to shoot something to make sure it's as perfect as it can be. Super deserving of its success, it reminds me of prime Koji Shiraishi films before he went off the deep end hard.
 
The new Marble Hornets Rosswood series has finished after 5 episodes:

This takes place not directly inside of the MH universe, with Tim and Alex being there as the creators of it and making some references. They are there to record some stuff, interviewed some locals and heard some local myths. Locals were spooked and refused to go to the old MH locations with them. When they get there they proceed to become stuck, it's an eternal night and they get looped around when they try to leave. Slender Man can be seen in the background from time to time until they encounter it up close and get separated. Jay calls Alex on his phone and there is confusion between them, Alex sounds very stiff and has no recollection of any of this happening and has a different collection of events, when they meet up again Alex claims that Jay told him to come here, clearly whoever Jay spoke to on the phone was not Alex. They are stuck there for days running out of food and battery.

Eventually after 10 days in another update Jay shows that something has happened to Alex, leaving him dazed and unable to speak. He proceeds to vanish and Jay goes to look for him. The next clip is after a long passing of time, with Jay's facial hair being a lot longer and him having gone insane, ranting about needing to find Alex and get out of here, he has almost run out of batteries for the camera and it is unknown how he has been able to survive this long. He eventually stumbles upon Slender Man and Alex's dead body and freaks out running away. He is then tormented with his phone being brought back to life and calls from Alex's voices, but then gets a call from a person outside of this, Riley (I think it was his or Alex's partner?) who claims Alex is with her. Jay drops the camera and walks away, and can then be heard getting attacked. The camera is dragged away and teleported back into the real world. A message at the end reveals that Alex and Jay are still missing and that the camera was found by a demolition crew at the hospital. The final message is "Please come back".

Overall I enjoyed it, reminded me of Tribe Twelve with the looping pocket dimension and Jay at the end. It was nice to see the OG return and it managed to stay faithful and didn't fuck up Slendy, although the first episode was cringy albeit intentionally. The ending is a lot more grim than the original.
