I disagree. I think allowing violent rhetoric to be allowed publicly with out social consequences encourages it to get more radical. People can advocate assaulting, killing, or glorifying violence on their public account where they represent themselves as a staff of a major corporation.

When views like this are allowed to be socially and professionally acceptable, it shifts how people view the acceptability of these actions, and I believe that increases the chances someone will act out troubles in their own life this way.

I know driving speech to the fringes can also allow it to get more radicalized, but I don't think letting it stand publicly does the same thing.

The only thing I can attribute to Elon himself and not the people that he hired to do something good that actually succeeded (SpaceX) is his decision to buy twitter. His only actual contribution to society that wasn't accidentally throwing his inherited wealth at something and it actually working (SpaceX) was taking the echo chamber of Twitter away from the usual suspects and attempting to implement reality on it.

If you share territory with groups and ideologies that will not reason with you, will kill you, cannot be unified with and so on, what options do you actually have? The USA already had a civil war with this problem at the forefront. All that happened was big industry imported foreigners to kill their ideological and economic opponents until the American South was just a bunch of destitute people living among rubble. Violence seems pretty inevitable based on what both sides are saying.
