Dead by Daylight and other Asymmetric Slasher Games - Discuss the games and the autistic/entitled communities around them

Having a killer impersonating survivors?
Making a mimic killer is genuinely super fucking easy and I don't know why behavior hasn't figured it out yet, spawn a bunch of random NPCs around the map that act super sus and allow the killer to teleport between them.

Instead of mimicing a survivor, you mimic the NPCs so stacks don't invalidate it.

IIRC the reason Nemmy only has two zombies is because the spaghetti code explodes if there's too many entities on the map. It's a great idea for a more stable game.

VHS. It had a really stupid version of it where Monster always spawned as a Teen at first and you could choose to shift into a monster any time. It was a long animation, and if you happened to run into a Teen quickly, you'd be forced to transform before you did anything at all. And since the game had built in voice comms from the lobby onward, Teens could figure out the monster immediately anyway based on who was playing what.

So the optimal play was to transform immediately, making it useless. Devs wouldn't remove it though because they were hyper married to their design. They rejected any feedback that suggested their basic design had flaws.

And a discord full of NEET autists who kept screaming down anybody who dared claim there was a problem with Monster. Nevermind the queue times for teen was like 15-20 minutes and Monster was instant for the majority of the game's lifetime.

And their "fix" was vending machine attacking. You could deny Teens a whole negligible buff. You couldn't actually stop the Teen objective from finishing. Crafting a weapon was inevitable. Really, taking damage was just inevitable because the game was completely weighted towards Teen, like the clickiest of bully squads designed it.

For instance, matches had timers that could hurt the monster automatically if you wasted too much time. You had to fight over a rift, King of the hill style, which monster was automatically at a disadvantage in due to the 1v4. And optimal play style was to drop chase about 0.05 milliseconds into one if you couldn't get a hit, because you couldn't hear Teens or their weapons if they stood still. And all Teen weapons? Ranged. All monster weapons (that actually damaged) were melee.

VHS should be a master class study in how to fuck up a promising shot at a new entry in a genre. The game had a TON of hype behind it coming off some stupid things BHVR did and they shat the bed hard.

@BrunoMattei and I were both in the closed beta and can attest to how hard the devs worked to ignore any feedback they didn't like.

2v8 supports upto 12 entities right? 2 killers, 8 survivors and 2 zombies.

So in 1v4 you can have the killer, 4 survivors and 4 entities that just follow survivors around and 3 roaming entities to act as patrol. You can probably make it work within the current confines of the engine.

Does this mean that having the knight and nemesis in 2v8 will crash the game

Moist likely they both can crash it.

Which is weird since Fortnite is also on the Unreal Engine and doesn't crash the game.
Low IQ BHVR employees can only "program" through Unreal Engine's blueprint language. For anyone who doesn't know what that is, it's basically a drag and drop system made to be easy to use. It's famous for creating spaghetti code and having bad performance. An example of how it looks:

They're in canada so you can only wonder how many SAAAARS are there with close to no qualifications just dragging these labels around and updating the game by just changing existing numbers. Just like when they posted the 9.2.0 patch notes and only Oni got buffed to adjust for the free unbreakable + tenacity, because it was a quick number change. And Twins, the most affected killer? They would need to adjust actual mechanics instead of numbers so they didn't do anything at all.

Fortnite makes little use of the blueprint system.

NO FUCKING WAY, I AM LITERALLY ROLLING

This is literally scratch tier programming wtf, I refuse to believe BHVR is a serious company.

So after freaking out about the possibility of having a massive amount of Pallets added to the Maps I have become a little obsessed with the Krasue as a Monster. I've spent the last week after Work marathoning through a bunch of Krasue movies from different Asian countries from the 60s, and 70s, and all the way up to 2024. Some of them were pretty awful, but I also quite enjoyed them. The one I had been thinking of was "Mystics in Bali" which I had vaguely remembered from James Rolfe's Monster Madness. That one in particular was pretty ridiculous.
I haven't actually watched any footage for the Krasue in game yet as I want to keep it at least a little bit of a surprise for when the Chapter properly releases. But looking at screenshots I do wonder if there is a possibility that people had seen some low quality pictures of her flying form, and mistakenly thought it was a Jorogumo Killer? It was being discussed back a bit so I was wondering how that rumor started. Because she is an Asian character, and I could see the intestines being perhaps mistaken as Spider Legs.

Going by the weird fanfic he put at the end of his post I don't think he has common sense, but he still understands the game more than the devs.
I don't consider joking around for a couple sentences to be anything close to a proper fanfic. If I were to write a fanfiction for DBD, it would be about Susie and the Legion becoming Christians, and leading a revolution against the Entity from the inside. I have posted my whole concept for it in my profile as it would be too long, and off topic to post here.

If you look at their output before DbD, it was almost all shovelware garbage. They accidentally made something with a satisfying gameplay loop and all their competitors just happen to keep shooting themselves in both feet. Somehow BHVR is one of the more competent asym devs. That's a scary thought.

I wonder why devs never made a homeless survivor. Like the Entity doesnt care who it grabs as long as they feel panic in the games.

Does Quebec not have a homeless population that the devs could represent in their game?

The 3 homeless perks could be very easily designed & implemented into the game.
Because James Earl Cash from Manhunt will be a better fit for those "homeless" perks.
