This is a complete myth. He was fed that information by trolls who pretended to be past members of his high school in order to get him to cool his increasingly disturbing obsessions over his high school gal pals at the time.

I suppose its our own delusions in thinking that's all it was. Chris' 'friends' certainly weren't bought, let alone EARNED as they were a doing it for extra credit I think.

I don't think we have any solid evidence that the gal-pals were offered money, but Bob definitely did ask the school administration to find some students who would let Chris hang around them and allow him some semblance of social interaction, and the gal-pals we know are the ones who let themselves be drafted to it.

The moment something feels like work, he loses interest. Medallions seemed like a great idea, because he could just bugger about with Model Magic like every other 6-year-old. But when he had to do it, repetitively, to customer specifications, even when he really really wanted to play PS3, he just didn't care any more. He could get $30 for under an hour's work. He could have set up a production line and made hundreds of dollars' worth of product in a fraction of a normal working day. It was the same with the comics, it's the same with everything. What he wants is something he can just do once and live off forever. Hence the fact that he was selling the shirt for stupid amounts of money.

Someone here (possibly @Alec Benson Leary ?) suggested that it's to do with the fact that he spent most of the normal developmental period for learning language completely nonverbal - to him, English is like a second language. I think the fact that he spends most of his time living in his own head doesn't help.

The great irony is that I think he could quite seriously have got a stupid amount of money for it. If someone will drop $1500 on the Sanic Totem, and someone else will give him $1000 for nothing at all, I reckon he could easily have got $1000 for the shirt. Unfortunately, he got dollar signs in his eyes and decided that there was some wealthy Sonichu fan who would drop $20000 on something they'd probably have to destroy the moment it arrived.

If you notice, he has both a speech impediment and a stutter. I had it for two years when I was 4, and normally a child takes speech therapy until they can speak clearly again.

One kid I graduated with had it bad enough that J's came out as "wuh"s, "sss" came out as "hhh", and you couldn't tell the difference between his Ls and Js. The personal cow of mine I posted about has impediments too, and when he gets stressed or would talk fast, you could hardly understand him.

Something I also learned having to go with my brother to his speech therapy well into high school is if they go long enough without it or don't practice enough, they will develop techniques to overcome it. Like how his holding a pencil is akin to a child developing their own way. Normally they give them things like special grips or flash cards, but Chris obviously didn't get that.

So Chris basically skips words or stutters them until he can say the closest sound he can. If not that, he'll say it two or three times more until it sounds right to him before he continues.

What strikes me odd is in Song of Christian, where he is approximately 16, he speaks fine. It's as he's gotten older and made it to his 30s that he started to decline in coherency.

I've been encountering Chris cosplayers at conventions for years. As far back as 2008 or 2009, I think.

If Chris lowered the price to something more reasonable, some nerd out there's going to pop a boner thinking about how he could cosplay as Chris Chan, while wearing the original "classic" shirt. I bet they also have a Sonichu medallion to go along with it.

He said that in the Lego Tour because he had just been informed through the fake high school friends around the same time. It wasn't like this was something he'd always been aware of or something Barb told him, his only information all comes from what he was fed by people who weren't even there. I'm saying this all before @Marvin probably comes around to tell me I'm wrong to be fair

So, this is how it went down. Yeah, a troll pretended to be a high school galpal to tell Chris some madeup BS about how they were paid to be Chris' friend. There was some uproar about that, about how it's kind of shitty to falsely shatter Chris' beloved memories of high school.

However, then Chris went crying to Barb about it, and Barb essentially, independently confirmed to Chris that, yeah, Bob arranged for the galpals to hang out with Chris.

I can't imagine they were paid. It might've involved community service hours, or maybe just asking them to be nice people and let the tard hang out with them.

Or Barb might've been lying. No clue.

Chris thought the amiibos were so fucking cool. Like in his head, he thinks it's like someone made some actual injection-molded plastic Sonichu action figures. And if you like Sonichu, the medallions are crap compared to that. Except no one actually likes Sonichu. They like his shoddy medallions because they're iconic and crappy, no one gives a shit about Sonichu himself. And Chris has trouble conceptualizing that. People have told him that directly, and he kind of acknowledges it, but I don't think he really understands.

So what he did was give up medallions to make a glut of Amiibos. Actually, this makes me wonder if he still has a bunch of unsold amiibos sitting around somewhere. He sold a few, but he can't have sold his whole stock.
