So he's got a new TV show aimed at teenagers to teach them about science. This is what he said was "Exactly the right message" to teach young people today.

Intersex people aren't true hermaphrodites, as hermaphroditic species in nature contain a full functioning set of both male and female genitals. So calling them hermaphrodites isn't scientifically accurate. Intersex refers to genitals that appear to be somewhere between male and female and are non-functional as far as reproduction goes, since having testes and an enlarged clitoris instead of a penis is pretty useless if you want to form babby.

Issue here is that he is scientifically wrong. There are circumstances where everything fucks up, leading to line of biological sex being blurred. Although rare, some babies are born XXY. This isknown as Klinefelter Syndrome. There isn't just two possibilities. There are more variants

Klinefelter isn't intersex. For one, you missed an important detail in the link:

You cannot remove a gender from a population and expect that population to continue in any meaningful fashion. If we cured intersex, we'd be fine. More than fine. True intersex is only 0.018% of the population. Any attempt to scientifically define a 'gender spectrum' relies on genetic disorders to do so. Abnormalities and genetic errors are not the normal.

Pretty much this. I see using intersex as justification incredibly unscientific, using it to justify your social beliefs. Are there intersex people who are basically lost between both and are unable to be defined? Yes. Are they common enough to constitute being normal or part of the spectrum? No. (Also intersex is 0.018%, so its 99.982%. Its even worse).

Chromosomal abnormalities are a complete determent biologically and are the result of genetic errors. Yeah, it sucks that some people are genetic errors. That's not a reflection on them or who they are. But they aren't a third gender, its a condition. If you're going to use that as proof of a spectrum, you aren't scientific. You are forcing science to fit your beliefs.
