🥝 Community Official Kiwi Farms Game Jam - BEE JAMS! (Haha) BEE JAMS!!!!! (wheezing) BEE JAMS!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, BEEEEEEEEE JAAAAAAAAAMS!!! (AHahahaha-Ha!)

Game idea giveaway. Looking like I won’t have time to do it before the deadline, so giving away my idea if anyone wants it, or to build on it. (I’d also be happy to help some, but I’d have less time than I’d like so best bet is to give away, though I would be able to help with writing bits of dialogue, music, & other incidentals, helping with character designs, etc, if there was a team & I was still included in a smaller role with various elements of the project.) If no one wants it, I’ll try to make this game come to life later on. I’d love to see what someone or a group would do with this idea though, so speak up if anyone wants this idea to work off of, & it’s yours.
I’m thinking of making Moldbound, about an average, every day, salt of the earth, vintage, terracotta, garden gnome trying to escape Moldavious Figtree’s evil lair.

Started as a throw away joke, but I’m thinking of actually doing it. In the brainstorm phase. If I can think of a decent little plot & some solid beats, I’ll give it a go. Thinking super basic, probably an OG side scroller, -like an early 80’s Contra run & gun. Will know in the next week or so if I’ll be able to make the time to join this round. Really fun event idea, looking forward to seeing all the stuff people come up with.

Also debating if ferrets will be enemies or allies to the main gnome player character. Looks like from now until the end of July is for planning & outlining so there’s still time to brainstorm or even decide to join up for the first round.

Full-time Unity dev here, I can code alright. If anyone has a team or good idea hit me up. Bored with my current project rn. I can do full steam ahead until the 14th and come back on the 20th.

feel free to use these wolfetone pixel animations. I cannot code and making a game seems beyond me. inspired this though

I volunteer my Kiwi Tower Defense game idea for other people to use if they don't have any ideas of their own yet.
Thinking right now about what to make.

Imagining a tower defense game in 3D isometric view. You place a Tower anywhere on a deserted island. You are given like 100 Kiwi Tokens (KT) or something, at a cost of 2 KT, you drop an egg around the Tower that hatches into a Kiwi. The Kiwi is an AI and will roam around the island to forage and gather resources. It just translates to an automatic KT generator. The more Kiwis you have, the faster you generate KTs.

Using KTs you upgrade your tower. For the demo I'd probably limit it to 2 upgrades to win the game.

Of course you don't just drop eggs onto the Island. At the midpoint of the game, Evil Cows will emerge from the sea to pick off the Kiwis and destroy your Tower. You will have to equip your Kiwis with Deagles (costs 5 KT) to help them fend off the Evil Cows. I forgot to mention you can change the Kiwis' priorities between farming resources and fighting the cows.

This might be too complicated for a demo, especially for a zero affinity for game dev person like me.
Here.

If modding is allowed, This seems like a fun time to bring back Pokemon Kiwi Green that I abandoned immediately after thinking of it during DKF. I don’t think I have time to make very many fakeMons over the next few weeks, but the plan is to change as many trainer battles as I can get through into representing cows and users,

If anyone wants to message me with teams for your favorite threads or users some help is very appreciated, and doubly so if anyone can make GBA sprites

I've made several games in the past, for various reasons.
I don't really have the time right now, the prize money made me laugh and the 2025 newfag OP gives me pause.

Still, for the niggers who want and can participate, I'll share some of my resources that I used to make my games.

I'm assuming the people opening these links have some form of understanding of programming and it's principles. If you're not a codefag, don't bother, it's all algorithms and other nerd shit.

Putting my idea out there because even though I intend on finishing it, it'd be cool if others made their versions of the same premise.

This is such a good premise that the entire next jam’s theme should be this feature tbh

idea for the cause:

Farming games ( i have a half baked idea about growing kiwis (the birds and the fruits) and then going inside to use the pc and its uses random.txt as its speech bubble)

Horse games ( make all the cows into jockeys, or go the uma masune route and just make a gacha game of cows running the track. (bonus points for grabbing bam margera and sam hyde models from their games)

parody the unpacking game, but each level is a specific cow.

How good do you need to be at math to learn programming? I've been meaning to get into gamedev but I've got 0 coding experience and math was far from my favorite subject.
It's less math and more so "do x if y" algorithm logic problem stuff.

Apart from specific edge-cases where you need to do something very specific that can be easily found in tutorials or online forum posts, it's mostly simple entry-level math. Formulas, vectors, angles, and really basic trigonometry. You can choose to off-load any complex math you may encounter onto Chat-GPT (or any generative language model of your choosing).

I recommend using an engine, Godot or Unity, or any of the listed suggested programs which may trade flexibility for ease of use. With all these helpful tools in the current year, it's a piece of cake to get started and make something fun! Have fun Macaw!

as anything related to programming: It Depends™
if you use an already existing game engine (Godot or Unity), then basically none at all apart from simple addition and multiplication, maybe exponentation and trigonometry if you're feeling fancy
if you want to make your own from scratch (very not recommended for gamejams) then It Depends™ on whether or not you want a 2d or 3d game
2d games math is basically high school math at worst while 3d involves matrices if you're writing your own renderer (basically camera) from scratch, otherwise high school math at worst probably (which means It Depends™)
