Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 - Activision attempts to redeem itself... again... September 12th

The worst part is that the gameplay is technically fine, so the niggercattle that has absolutely no clue about skater culture or how the previous games looked will eat this sterile slop up.
What's baffling is how little 3 and 4 were improved on, why bother releasing such a minimal remaster 5 years later when they could have done it 1-2 years at most after 1+2?

Is there a single recent remake or even remaster of an early 2000s game that isn’t shit? Mario Party Superstars qualifies if you’re generous with your definition of “remake”, and I’ve heard the Destroy All Humans remakes are good.
AOEII probably counts, but the performance was unbelievably dogshit for the first few years.

I'm reminded of this THPS4 song (I think it's still in the remake, but my point still stands) about the remake changes:

Maybe your SOUL you'd sell to have mass appeal...

There's no soul in the remake compared to the originals.

Would the Resident Evil remakes count?

Honestly, I feel like they should've just done "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX", instead.

MHPB has the same career structure and level size as the first three THPS games, so the devs would've been able to fit both games.

Then again, that would require them to program BMX controls and physics, and I don't even trust them to put in that amount of effort.

Who owns the rights to Matt Hoffman? I thought Acclaim owned the rights to BMX before they shat the bed with BMX XXX. I don't think BMX is as popular as skateboarding.

Nah, you're thinking of "Dave Mira's (RIP) Freestyle BMX".

"Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX" was Activisions attempt at a BMX equivalent of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. It was programmed on the same engine, had almost the exact same controls, same career mode, and even had Tony Hawk as a secret unlockable rider.

You're right. I can't believe he committed suicide.

I remember Underground 1 (or 2) and American Wasteland having BMX bikes.

With how sanitized 3+4 is, I don't trust them for an Underground remake.

Yup, it was American Wasteland that had rideable bikes. In fact, Matt Hoffman is actually the guy who gives you the BMX tutorial in that game.

The BMX controls and physics in American Wasteland are specifically based on the ones from Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX 2, which is a pretty good game in its own right.

Fun Fact: The Chicago level from THPS4 is actually originally from MHPB2.

I was really into 1&2, it was like an out of place artifact for it to be a good 2020 remake, with insanely great play feel and thoughtful enhancements to the original. But when Vicarious Visions got dismantled I assumed 3&4 would never happen.

So I just bought 3&4 for PS2 and had a great time with those instead.

When the remake was announced, my immediate thought was "who is making this" and yeah Iron Galaxy, which has notoriously incompetent staff. Not surprised this turned out the way it did. Certainly looks nice but man I just can't put money into a product developed by those retards.

I like the baseline in the menu music of Pro Skater, but I think the flow would be better if the beginning instrumental would loop around FOUR times before the baseline.

Nah, Hoffman2 is separate from the Tony games with it's own engine (the graphics and physics being nothing alike). Play both games and it'll be apparent that's some stupid schoolyard rumor.
