The past five pages of you niggers rambing on and on about "piracy is theft" and "piracy is actually cool and totally fair lmao" make me want to go off someone.
Piracy is a violation of an implied social contract between the consumer (ie. you) and the makers of the product.
The social contract, which has been going on with physical and digital products since the dawn of money goes like this:
1. The makers of a product spend money (whether their own money or loaned money from other rich people) in exchange for the time of all the developers and marketers and etc that go into making a product.
2. To pay those people back, once the product is done, the makers ask for money from the consumer in exchange for the product they have just made.
3. The consumers of the product, if they want it, happily give those makers money not only to gain access to the product, but also so they can have the money to make more enjoyable products in the future.
If you pirate, you are short-changing the developers, it is that simple. You can have all the arguments you want about bad corporate practices or not being able to afford games making it 'morally okay' or whatever but it is still personal selfishness at the end of the day. The only things that you can even make a case for in terms of acquiring for free is abandonware where there is no way to buy and no way to give back to the original developers. Every one of you faggots are sitting here typing on your keyboard trying to act like some justice guardian or Reddit-tier debate edgelord about exactly who it is okay to be selfish against needs to hop into a woodchipper as soon as possible.
And before any one of you tries to pull out the hypocrite card, yes, I've pirated stuff too. Many games, many pieces of software. But guess what, I also don't go around pretending like I'm some sort of Robin Hood or social angel, unlike a bunch of you motherfuckers. I'm a selfish piggy boy and I won't act like a beta bitch trying to deny it.
VGMusic, of all fucking places,
has a nice little paragaph about pirates that applies well here even though it was written probably 20 years ago:
