They had at least one of each. Chris mentioned during one of his tales of legendary suffering that Barb rode the ride-on mower while Chris HAD TO USE A MANUAL ONE. Once.

Chris is so lazy that it appears he suffered from muscle atrophy as an adult. His shoulders and arms are really small for a grown man with his frame. Pushing a lawnmower once a week in the summertime wouldn't have harmed him, it actually would've helped him keep the muscle mass his body was trying to build.

There's only one documented case of him pushing it as far as I can recall, so it's likely he always used the wroom-wroom model with a few exceptions.

Interesting. I know they had a ride-on mower back when Bob was still alive--I'm guessing it's as non-functional as the cars, now. I'd just kinda assumed they might have a push-mower--but even if they did, it's probably lost to rust.

You read horror stories about people who win the lottery, but the reality is most people who win disappear. If you found them, they would probably be doing ok, with a higher standard of living than before.

Lottery winner failures happen because people don't really have a sense of how to deal with a lot of money at once. Spending money tends to create more obligations to spend money. You buy a big house and a couple nice cars with the winnings, but all of a sudden you have massive upkeep costs and property taxes. The money doesn't keep coming in, and eventually you can't afford it.

Chris's disability doesn't preclude him from mowing the lawn--at least, that's the way the insurance company would look at it. I'm assuming that they probably were looking for the most cost-effective housing solution for Chris and Barb and figured that they'd be able to live up to their end of a rental agreement. I'm certain that there's a mower somewhere in the greenhouse, or the Chandlers could have scraped off ten bucks and gotten a neighborhood kid to do it.

In all truthfulness, the only thing that's keeping Chris from mowing the lawn is Chris.

Chris's disability prevents him from mowing the yard in the same way it earns him a handicap parking permit.

Is Chris still located in Ruckersville, or is he in a different town now? I ask because I wonder if the new place has taken him further from his banned hangouts, or if he still has to drive out of town to buy Squinkies.

More precisely, it's almost certainly the small house in the center with the three cars in front of it.

If we compare the front view of the house with the aerial view from Google, we see immediately that it is very likely the same building:

• There are two gables with upper floor windows in them.
• The path in front of the house turns leftwards (if you walk away from the house).
• There seems to be a lot of stuff on the grass next to the path in the Google view.

So we can conclude safely that this is the house. The coordinate data on that one photo also point to this place.

I can't wrap my head around how he things being a "tomgirl" is a step above anything. I wish I was exaggerating, but really, Chris has never looked worse, weightloss or no. I really wish someone could at least make that part of his life end because man.

This link says it has three bedrooms and 2.5 baths, with a rent estimate of $1400 per month. Rent may not be that much, but it would have to be up there. They'd really only need 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, who had the idea to pay for so much extra?

I know some folks who knew Jack Whittaker before he won the Powerball. As the WP article shows, winning all that money was the worst thing that ever happened to him. He wasn't a poor man before he hit the lottery either... When you get that kind of money out of nowhere, a lot bad shit can happen in a very short time if you aren't extremely careful.

Jack should have up and moved the whole family out of the Charleston area. He thought that he could stay in the same place, and have his old life, but it just doesn't work that way.

That's wild. The last story I saw, a reporter for Businessweek tracked him down and managed to get the rare interview, of a sort. Whittaker met with him but refused to answer any questions unless he was paid $15,000.
