Honestly? I don't think he was. I think the Wolverine toy story shows he was pretty limited in how spoiled he was. I guess thinking on it, he did say he had a billion toys. So maybe? Although he could be lying about all those? Like he had friends who had them?

But, regardless, this attitude comes more from that other people would do that to him. Phil has a real stick up his ass about how people "treated" him. That's where the manner of his talking down comes from. So, he was certainly coming home every fucking day screaming at Linda that Franky or Desean had some new toy, and that he got bullied for not having it. Maybe Linda caved a lot. But that fucking brief moment of ostracization fucking scarred him.

DSP blames the colored kids in his neighborhood for why he never learned how to ride a bicycle, because his was too nice. DSP likely never had a friend until John Rambo. He's like the poor kid in your class that only owns 3 shirts and 2 pair of pants that no one talks to, not even to bully or shit on because he's too ugly to look at and too smelly to be around.

If you take a look at his job history, it’s obvious that he got fired for being an argumentative asshole at every position he ever had.

And that was BEFORE he spent 2 decades alone in his house, babysitting dents all day long.

You just know that he’d be let go after a week or two because he went off on a manager telling him the correct way to hold a broom. Or being asked where the cat food is, and replying with a: “Tuh-huh-huh. This is the frozen food section! Obviously not here! Get the fuck outta here morahn!”

Shit, if Phil could get a job and livestream himself doing it, I think he could earn a pretty coin.

Especially if he had like a text to speech app on his phone and a portable little loudspeaker hooked up to it.

A literal 11 y/o girl calls him an idiot? He has nothing until she's gone, then he says he would have slapped her IRL. A child. He was trying to look tough against a child and could only do it once she wasn't there to hear him.
Craig and Adam tell him right to his face that they don't believe him? He just nods and doesn't argue or even tries to defend himself.
Keemstar calls him a lolcow several times to his face? His voice quivers like a bitch and he can't even look him in the eye despite it being a video call.
PPP says his wife is fat and roasts the fuck out of him on his show? He just laughs and says nothing. Only issues a warning the next day after he's gone.

Phil would never go off on a manager or even the people that deliver his Doordash slop. He won't even take a phone call, he is that afraid of confrontation. If a manager ever scolded Phil, he would just take it without arguing and then would only talk once the manager is gone. Phil is basically a middle-aged woman, will constantly talk shit as long as the person can't hear him, but once you go and confront him he plays victim and/or cries so you leave him alone.

It' amazing how every single game Phil plays he gets the only copy that is bugged and broken and has AI that cheats. He can't even get by in singleplayer Mario Kart without encountering game breaking bugs like blue shells that follow him, AI racers getting ahead of him, and the bots getting items. Man has it rough, I'd hate to see him suffer in another child's game like LEGO Star Wars or some shit. Even fucking Minecraft cheats by spawning mobs in unlit caves that attack him from behind and that is a literal game for children.

I doubt he was that assertive and confrontational with people in person. DSP is an unreliable narrator and we know from his interactions with people that he's meek in person.

One exception was his outburst at that fighting tournament but in that case he felt confident because his 'homies' had his back(ack-ack.)

I have a legitimate question. I watched the initial Sidescrollers interview and saw this as his Mundane Matt moment. He had the choice to either take the bandaid off and move on, or just keep on hiding and continue on his downward spiral. I think the best course of action was to do what Matt did. Is he better off for keep on lying, and then half-admitting after PPP convinced him to? He could just get a normal job and have some shred of dignity left.

Beggars don't have dignity, it's the male equivalent of a whore.

If he couldn't beg on the internet, he would just beg to his family, neighbors, and finally on a street corner, but that's about all Phil will ever do.
