really capturing the horror of man's hubris in reviving the extinct species, and of science gone too far

Apparently there's another hybrid/mutant/whatever the fuck dinosaur in the new film called Mutadons, which are a cross between Pteranodon and Velociraptor.

I'm so goddamn sick of hybrids. Genetic failures that Ingen left to rot in pain and misery on this island would've made more sense and they could've stretched the imagination with their designs. But this? Literal Saturday morning cartoon levels of stupid, a billion dollar corporation investing money to make crossbreeds of two deadly species.

There is something wrong with Jonathan Bailey. He can't do an American accent to save his life.

Why do people still like this series, it hasn't been good for 30 years.
Its fun to poke fun at how bad the World brand is. I also can at least watch the main trilogy and not feel like my intelligence is insulted. They still have good animatronic and CGI work for their time. JP overall is a very limited, mishandled franchise. You can only have people be trapped on an island with dinos for so long. If the series wanted to evolve it could use dinosaurs as a vehicle for other scientific or ethical issues plaguing mankind like the destruction of ecosystems or cell research or something, but people just wanna watch bad actors punch dinosaurs and make jokes.

Yet again they ignore the very baseline concept that the dinosaurs were monstrous and murderous because they were already hybridized and then mismanaged. They failed to even handle the mutation from a specific frog's DNA which caused the vast overpopulation issues. This was long before they thought to make a homunculus in World.

I'm sure the next story will be they made Dickriposaurus for "military applications" that still necessitates a human pointing a gun at their intended target.

For some reason I like the trailer for this one alright, certainly more than the last 2 sets of trailers for the last 2 movies. We'll see. I could tell Fallen Kingdom would be bad from the trailer and it was worse than I expected. I didn't even see Dominion. I liked 1, 3 (I know), and 5 so far. Either disliked or hated all the rest so the odds of this turning out ok is low, but I'll see it in a theater if it gets good reviews and word of mouth.

I'm not sure what more plot-wise they can do with this series, but you can say that about superheroes and Star Wars too. I'm going to flat out refuse to watch anymore MCU or anything with fucking Pascal in it again and Star Wars TV can go to hell too. And I'll probably even skip Mando and Grogu (unless I hear it's up with OT quality, yeah right) and that'll be the first one I never saw in a theater in some form, just like Dial of Destiny for indy.

I finished the original two novels finally, and I came away from them with two thoughts. Firstly, that the entire JP/JW franchises best moments were just taking parts of the books and building scenes around them - including even the new Rebirth with the river scene.

Secondly, that I'm surprised no one has proposed making a 6 or 8 part series out of a 1:1 recreation of the original novel instead of continuing with the copy-paste movies.

On another note, Rebirth honestly is starting to look like they're taking props from something like Prometheus or Alien Romulus. Just very clean and futuristic looking.

Think it's been said but it won't surprise me if this makes a billion dollars if the last few dogshit JW movies did

Just watched the new trailer and of course they managed to fit another unwanted screaming child that is almost guaranteed to have no plot relevance.

D. Rex looks a lot better in this trailer than the few shots of it in the last one. The "dragon" mutant looks retarded.

I really don't mind that we have mutant monstrosities in this movie. The first ones established that the dinosaurs aren't "pure", that many different genes were used to complete what they didn't have, and then once the park was running, they got creative with them and they wanted hybrids just for the looks. I can see someone asking for a dino that looks more like a bird and they ended up with an ugly looking dragon raptor instead of some feathery lizard.

I mean...even the original had that problem with lex and Tim. Even mad magazine pointed that out when they did their prody if jp.

They seem to be going all in and embracing their destiny as dumb, off the walls insanity so there's that if it's true I mean.

The problem with the World trilogy is that it largely was a repeat of the original trilogy without any of the magic that made the original trilogy great while also adding too many nonsensical, goofy elements to it. First film is based in a theme park where the attractions eventually run amok and the visitors on the island have to suffer. Second film is about shady men trying to hunt and smuggle dinosaurs off the island, which eventually leads to chaos back in the United States. The third film doesn't really do anything new and has our characters once again trapped somewhere remote with the dinosaurs, having to figure out how to escape back to civilization while fighting for their survival.

Trying to explore more topics related to genetic engineering isn't necessarily bad, but it distracts from the main topic that franchise is supposed to be about: what happens when you reintroduce creatures that were extinct for millions of years into a world that has evolved without them present? Especially for humans who would have likely not become the dominant species with these creatures racing around.

The problem with both trilogies is that it never really gave us what we wanted: we want to see dinosaurs racing around causing widespread mayhem and destruction. Humans are pushed to their limit and investing all their resources into destroying them. This franchise has always neutered itself in terms of its action as well. I want to see guys with rifles and explosives trying to kill these things. Not the same survival horror montage where people without weapons have to fight to survive amongst the dinosaurs. I want Peter Jacksons King Kong.
