In most states the pension system works out that retired teachers (and all state employees) make more retired than they did working.

Oregon is especially egregious as the state pension system has a legally mandated 8% ROI. Guess who makes up the difference if the market's down? What Trump has been really good at so far this term is acknowledging and giving concessions to all the various factions making up the MAGA coalition, many of which conflict with each other (H1B issue, Israel, Massie, etc), and gauging people's reactions well enough to take a step back when necessary and keep everyone more or less happy. This really should be extremely basic statesmanship, but after the years of corrupt clown politics it feels nothing short of miraculous to watch, especially compared to the remains of the Dem coalition.

Purely anecdotal but I've seen more than once instance of middle school teachers talking online about how the boys in their class think Star Wars is for girls the same way something like Barbie or My Little Pony is. It's not all covered in pink and pastel but every single Star Wars story now is about how the female character is smarter/better than everyone else and the male characters are all dumb failures who need the girls to teach them how to be competent, so it's not hard to see why.

They genuinely think that this is the message boys need to have beat into their heads. Boys are supposed to like it anyway because it has light sabers and space ships in it. Girls are supposed to like it because it has a girl as the leading character. They don't know why nobody likes it.
