Singapore and China always disliked each other. Especially since the Chinese built a port just next door in Malaysia. Singapore is a city-state and like most of it’s kind it’s wealth is built on trade, so that was very bad for business.
The thing is that pretty much universally, if they're mentally healthy, the parents I talk to say that parenting is fun, that watching their kid grow up is the most fun that they've had, that passing on their experiences (watching their favorite childhood movies with their kid, going camping, fishing, etc) makes them feel young again, that seeing their kid develop as a person is delightful.
