It doesn't matter if you are infusing your weapon or putting buffs on it, it's still melee combat. You are not casting any spells for offensive attacks because they are all shit and have awful cast numbers, and farming for weeds sucks.

Climax is trash too, I can tell you that because I watched a dude on Twitch (NapstarF, he's a little weird but his streams are entertaining) beating DS2 only using Climax recently and that shit is frustrating (and kinda hilarious too). The guy spent 70% of his time farming for poppable souls and herbs and praying everything would work out because a single failure meant he would have to farm everything again for an hour straight.

It's barely viable and only turbo autists playing for viewers online would have the motivation to use that shit Hexe unironically.

Magic in DS2 requires way too much planning, farming, and commitment to be decent. Otherwise, you can buy a rapier for 1000 dollars in majula and steamroll everybody.

EDIT - Personal experience, I have beaten DS3 with mostly Pyro, Magic, and Miracles and had a chill time in all playthroughs. I have only beaten DS2 with mostly magic once and it was kinda difficult. I think I can do a Hexe run but Pyro and Miracles are out of question, they are way too trash.

Maybe it's just Hexes. Dark Orb is like 20 casts at base, up to 30 casts, and hits like a truck. I'll agree they utterly trashed Miracles (after a very undeserved mega nerf to lightning spear that seemingly carried over into DS3).

But seriously why the fuck are there so many troons in the souls community? One of the old ds3 hackers who would make custom boss fights (amir) also trooned out.
Troons love appearing sophisticated, and knowing about the "lore" of a series like dark souls which isn't upfront about it like say elder scrolls gives them a bit of a high. That, and autism.

Random speculation, it seems like it has multiple protagonists in different settings. Maybe a Live A Live sort of deal?

Having a hard time grasping what it's deal is. Sadest thing is we'll get a Bloodborne situation now from Nintendo, and Nintendo is a shit ton more stubborn about porting things out.

From the description from the official trailer it appears to be multiplayer.

"The moontears will flow for one and one alone when The Duskbloods, a brand-new multiplayer game by FromSoftware, is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026!"

Now hopefully it can be solo fine but maybe the gimmick is drop in / drop out co-op the whole way through.

I mean, thecnically all Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring are multiplayer. Though if it puts it in the pitch I can only assume it will be a big part of it. Another one hoping it can be solo played.

I have no doubt that From Software saw the work and hype around the Elden Ring Seamless Co-Op mode and thought "Lets do that".

Yeah, consider my hype shot and killed

It's weird that they are making two fucking multiplayer games at the same time.
I assumed Nightreign was the "extraction shooter", but I think this one is seems more like that genre, being also pvp.

It even more frustrating now, that the online game is console exclusive, because they will force you to pay for online...

We're never getting another traditional game again are we? Just multiplayer and open world shite.
Every time From Soft goes forward, I just want them to go back.
I've been wanting another game like Dark Souls 1 since Darks Souls 2 fumbled.
They haven't made a gimmicky game since DeS.
They still haven't gone back to Sekiro gameplay.
And they haven't made a slow placed souls since DaS2.

Fromsoft noticeably got worse after Elden Ring became popular. Armored core 6 was the exception. This is just another company down the shitter. They’ve become complacent when all the whales will buy the game anyway.

It was bound to happen eventually since it always happens when a corpo reaches a certain level of financial success but It's still very blackpilling to see Fromsoft devolve into yet another slop factory pumping out multiplayer/live service slop.

If you're a guy like me who really loves high quality single player RPGs and action games the options are getting increasingly slim out there.
